Ok, Bushmaster gurus, I seek your wisdom. I just recently got into the world of flattop ARs and I prefer to get my uppers and parts from BM direct. I got my "Patrolman's Carbine" A3 upper a few weeks ago, and I'm about to place an order for another A3 upper this week. The question is, what's the deal about the taller front sight post? According to BM's website, you need it for the Colt A3 carry handle and the ARMS #40 BUIS (and the other brands of BUIS out there). I plan on adding ACOGs and #40Ls to these rifles at some point, so I will definitely need them there, but do you need the taller FSP for the Bushmaster A3 carry handle? Or does BM install these posts on their A3 uppers? Or do they use the "F" marked front sight block? (I am ~300 miles away from my upper and can't look to see
Since the ACOGs are as expensive as arms and legs, I was just going to shoot with the irons until I recovered from the Sunset. If I need the taller FSPs, I figured I'd just go ahead and order two of them with the next upper and be done with it.
Obviously, I haven't taken the upper out to the range yet to see if there's any major issues with zeroing. So what did I do? Post about it on an internet forum!
Isn't that the solution to everything? Thanks for any input, folks.
