Building an AR10 and am debating barrel lengths for my RA UM. I know barrel length has been discussed here, and everywhere, since the dawn of mankind. This is not a "which is more accurate" question, don't worry.
I have an ARMS SIR and a 24" barrel is going to be quite cumbersome on such a gun (13" rail). On the other hand, I will be running a YHM .338 suppressor on a QD mount, so I have to account for the fact that an Austin Mini is going to be hanging off the end of my barrel. Feels like 16" might just be too short, but was looking at 18" vs 20".... Would welcome comments or suggestions. Also mid vs rifle gas.
This will be a general purpose rig, mostly range whore, but I am sinking quite a bit of money into the gun and glass, so I'd like it to shoot... and far.
