I want to use a 20" Colt 1/9 preban HBAR [circa early 1990s] on a postban Colt lower I have. The HBAR has no bayonet lug, but presently has the A2 flash suppressor. I don't want to just lop off the threads and recrown the barrel.
I want a postban-legal [perm attached] muzzle brake which looks like the A2 flash hider.
Wilson sells a postban-legal A2-style muzzle brake which looks like what I want. However, I thought I read somewhere that a postban brake must be larger in diameter than the actual barrel [something about being able to slip on a gtenade launcher or something].
I know the Wilson brake IS larger around than either the present A2 or M4 Colt barrels, but it doesn't appear to be larger around than my fat 1/9 M6700 HBAR.
Does anyone know if I'd be OK perm installing the Wilson brake on my HBAR for use on a postban lower receiver, i.e., whether the Wilson qualifies as postban with an HBAR/large diameter barrel???????????????
Informed inputs highly welcome.-------Help!!!
