I plan to use the rifle to punch holes in paper. Maybe I will get the chance to try three gun competition. I do have a supressor on the way and the added length of the can will make it slower to bring around on target.. A few months ago I ordered a DPMS .308 with an 18" barrel. I chose that length since it will be mainly a hunting rifle. I don't think I will be shooting the 5.56 beyond 750 yards. Although there is a new range close to our gun shop that has a 1,000 yard range. I know the 5.56 round doesn't have the terminal ballistics at 1,000 yards to be as effective as it is inside 200 yards, but an occassional trip to the range to challenge myself and the rifle will be fun. Maybe that helps give a better picture of my intended use.
