Just picked up one of the carbon models with the picatinny gas block. I read the flattop is slightly higher so I need a taller front sight? Not a big deal, but am I supposed to buy a flip up "gas block" sight or "rail" sight. I'm not clear on the difference between the two and which style specifically I need for this gun. I'm assuming I can get whichever model I need and then swap out the actual sight pin or use an adjustable rear BUIS to compensate?

I purchased the A.R.M.S. sight set from their web-site and they work Great!!

All Windham railed gas blocks are the same height as the receiver and I'm sure Eric will confirm. If you go through the archived windham weaponry newsletters Eric has an article written about this very topic. Windham has quite a few flip sights available on their website as another poster mentioned and stay away from airsoft stuff. Just be careful with polymer or "plastic" type sights on the gas block. If you do mag dump after mag dump you may melt the sight. But on the receiver you're gtg for a polymer sight. Welcome to the disease

The carbon fiber models have an upper rail that is about .040" taller than the gas block as this area of the upper needed to be beefed up a bit with the carbon fiber. You need to use a "rail height" or "same plane" front sight on the carbon fiber models just like on the aluminum SRC.
Where the upper rail is taller you may also need a .040 taller front sight post to get the rifle properly zeroed. This will depend of the front sight and how much you can screw it out before it looks like the post is too far out and loose in the base.
