I just put a new DD upper together with the following parts:

Daniel Defense 16 inch 1/7 CHF barrel
DD M4-A1 RIS II rail
DD upper receiver
DD BCG
Knights Armament front and rear folding sights.

Basically a Block II. Anyway I can not get a good zero on the irons. I have to crank the rear sight as far as it will go to the left and I'm still hitting about 6 to 8 inches to the right @ 25 meters. Looking over the rifle, it appears as though the barrel is slightly canted to the right of the front rail mounted iron sight. I loosen up all the rail screws and tried to re-position the rail which did make it a tiny bit better but it's still off just a little.

If I look at the hole in the end of the rail from the front end, looking at the end of the muzzle I can see the barrel is slightly off center to the left, which would be canted to the right if you were holding the rifle to fire it which makes sense why its hitting a bit far to the right. If you follow what I'm saying? I actually wedged the barrel with a piece of cardboard and I can straighten it out like that LOL! :)

I wanted to make sure it was going to WORK before retyping anything so I simply put a topic name and the word "test".

WTH is a zero?

I pick up what your laying down.  if the rail system isn't aligning properly, that will certainly make zeroing your sights difficult.  We'd be happy to take a look at it for you.  If you want to send it in, please call Jeff at 912-851-3287.  Or email him at [email protected].

That might have to be an option. I tried using a carry handle to lock the rail and receiver together which did help but I'm still off a tiny bit even with the KAC rear cranked as far as it will go to the left.

I'm running a Micro T-1 on a ADM mount  that is dead nuts on target and I can see the dot is not lining up with the irons sights. Normally I would just zero the irons then lollypop the red dot off the front but I ended up having to go the other way, set the Micro T-1 first and I can't get the irons in sync with that. Really I don't care if the irons are 100%, I'm using the Micro T-1 but it just bugs me that I can't dial it in better.

I'll play around some more, if I can't get it dialed in I'll give Jeff a ring!

Oh hey Joe, are you going to be at the Combat Rifle Championship here in Michigan again this year? Just curious!

Wish I was but I doubt I'll be able to make it this year.

Fixed it for you!  It's a joke - no matter how many times Joe tells people to call or email Jeff - they "F" it up.  

Poor Joe - hardest working guy at DD and Marty needs to give him a damn raise!!
