I wanted to drop a line about my experience with PSA, which so far has been great.
I got into this game a couple years back when I purchased a stripped lower and had it shipped to a local FFL dealer. Because of a special offer it was only $65 shipped. I decided to go with a Magpul MOE LPK, which also due to a special offer, made it to my door for only $135. At the time I was overwhelmed with options on the upper. I made up my mind to to wait for a 16" midlength with a light rail but after waiting a few months and seeing Out of Stock on pretty much every website for every manufacturer I checked, I settled on a carbine. I actually had 2 orders cancelled from 2 reputable makers that also have a presense on this site. I hold nothing against them but neither were very cooperative over the phone or email.
So I decided to go with a PSA 16" CHF MOE carbine upper. 2 days after I placed my order, PSA posted the option to buy the rifle with an Troy 11" TRX rail. I emailed PSA that day and requested to cancel my first order and place a new one for the railed version. A few hours later Daniel Dodds of PSA replied back and told me that would involve a cancellation fee and so we should just upgrade my order and tack on $80 for the rail, which we did. My upper shipped the next week. Unfortunately, UPS said it was delivered to my apartment... when I got home it was not there. I contacted PSA and a few days later another upper was shipped to my door with no questions asked. Awesome.
Due to a busy schedule I wasn't able to get around to shooting the rifle until a couple months ago. Through the first few hundred rounds I experienced some FTEs. I believed the rifle was overgassed and sent PSA an email about what to do. Their rep, Casey Dye, replied back asking if my bolt has an o-ring installed - it did not. He sent me an o-ring and it arrived a few days later. I plan to go shooting this weekend to see how things go. On a side note, I'll be shooting MFS .223rem rather than Lake City M855 5.56 this trip. So that might also help if the rifle is indeed overgassed.
So thank you PSA for the timely and helpful customer service. I see many complaints about CS on this website but have always been very pleased with yours. Keep it up!
As for my question, I'm looking to put together my second AR. I'd like to build a 16" lightweight mid-length with a PSA rail. Do you guys build these to order if everything is in stock?
