The callibration markings are there to give us all a starting point. Every military infantryman memorizes his rifle's "dope" = personal adjustments added to mechanical zero.

Having served in the USMC for several years, I agree with your assessment of the calibration mark's function, wholeheartedly. My concern, at this point (as I've been shooting accurately with my zero for months now), is more cosmetic than anything -- the Dissy was an expensive personal investment, not something issued of course. As such, I'm taking notice of details I never gave second thought to on my various issued weapons, save for the dope-DeJour -- could be that my zero on issued weapons was very near the center mark or....
I'm interested to hear what Bushmaster has to say. If the marks should be centered, that's what I want, that's what I paid for, and that would be what I didn't receive, regardless.
