Could you clarify the use of the 8620 grade steel in your rifles (in manufacturing your bolts and bolt carriers).
You did say that you folks use this steel for the bolt carrier, and I was wondering if this is the same grade steel used for this component when building your US Government contract guns?
Also, is this same 8620 grade steel being used to manufacture the bolts in the civilian guns?.......If it is, isn't that different than what you guys use during the manufacturing of the military contract bolts?
Fulton Armory makes the following statement on their website concerning steel grade in AR-15/M-16 bolt heads:
"Even the steel called for in the bolt mil drawings (Carpenter 151, I think?) is virtually never used in commercial bolts."
Does that statement hold true with civilian Bushmaster rifles as well, or do you guys use the proper mil spec grade "Carpenter" designated steel?
In other words, is Bushmaster substituting the proper mil spec grade steel by using 8620 grade steel in civilian guns?
Could you please be kind enough to respond to these questions...... and thank you in advance :)
