I am going to purchase my spikes upper tomorrow morning. I am interested in a lightweight option, but they only seem to come with carbine length gas system. That being said, is the mid length gas system the best system for a 16 inch barrel? I am a little confused on the carbine, m4, and midlength gas systems. I understand that a short gas system equals more pressure and in a longer barrel more dwell time. So what is the best combination?
I was originally going to order a 14.5 midlength, but I don't want the higher pinned and welded, I would like to option to change that down the road. I was also going to order the lightweight, but I see that those are all carbine length systems and I have read some specs that would advise against a carbine and point more towards a midlength. I haven't found any details yet on the "m4" gas system, but still looking around.
