Good stuff. I'm glad it worked out for you. I haven't seen the problem on the one we were having issues with since we replaced the battery either. I'm going to suggest to my friend that has the reflex sight to check out your setup and youtube channel. He has it on an Ultimak right now and hasn't had an issue in 300 rounds, but he wants it lower. I think heat wise, your setup is the best for the PA reflex sight.
Thank you and you are correct, thus far the MI industries rail system doesn't heat up as quickly and keeps the sights cooler from everything we've seen thus far. I'm looking forward to some warmer days to be able to see just how well the MI rail does when temps are in the 80's and 90's.
Both Sturm and I will be running an AK rifle class with SI this summer, I'm starting the class with this sight and hopefully it'll hold up through it. Minimum rounds for the class is 500 (I plan on bring a full case anyway) and SI puts on some intensive classes, so it'll be a nice head to head of this and either the FF or the RMR depending on what Sturm runs. To me that's going to be the litmus test for it in terms of reliability.
I notice many people have them on rifles with a couple hundred rounds thru them. Sturm and I must be one of the few people left that go out for a range day and rarely fire less than 3-400 rounds of misc calibers virtually every single outing. I know 300 rounds is a lot for some people, and these days ammo is pricey, but 300 rounds on a sight tells me nothing, The new reflex I was sent has 120-150 rounds thru it, the old one had 120~ from the first trip and 60 from the second. Nothing substantial but it's friggin cold to be outside all day right now ;) I'll have well over 1k thru it by St Patricks Day. Going to have to take a weekend or two off coming up between call at work and Valentines weekend.
I have high hopes for it at this point, like many folks I can't afford to put an RMR on all my favorite firearms and sights like these allow me to have several platforms constantly setup and one or two for self defense with the higher ends on them, without going broke.
