I like my Middy- -the longer sight raduis really helps. I was in a 3-gun a couple weeks ago (my first 3-gun - and definetly not my last!), and used my iron sighted Del-ton Middy. Furthest shots were 50 yards rested off the top of a barrel, and the shortest were 3 yards while moving. Irons worked well for both, flipped to the small aperature for the long stuff, and the large aperature for the close stuff. I didn't drop any points on the 3-30 yard stuff, but dropped a couple on the 50 yarder (nerves).
My 300/221 is the only rifle I have with rails, and that was so I could mount a bi-pod on it. Otherwise everything has round black handguards. That said....a Magpull MOE might find its way on my Middy someday soon. You can always add rails to the MOE forend if you want to attach something.
