Reviewed by Anonymous 2 days ago Disclaimer - I won this trigger in the Christmas 2014 giveaway, I did not purchase it. I have never been a fan of 2-stage triggers. I prefer the crisp break of a really nice single-stage, and always thought that 2-stage triggers felt unnatural. That changed the moment I installed Mark Larue's new MBT-2S trigger. You can't really tell much from the photos, but this trigger just oozes quality before you ever install it. There is a nice heft that lets you know it is made with quality materials. The packaging tells you that Larue is very proud of this item. The machining is clean, and without any burrs. The finish is smooth and flawless. My trigger came with a hammer pin, but no trigger pin. I don't know if it was supposed to come with both. But it didn't matter, as I was going to use a set of KNS pins anyhow. As mine was very early production, it's possible it just got left out somehow. Installing this trigger into my Sig716 was smooth and easy, just like any other trigger. Not as simple as an all-in-one drop-in unit, but it's not exactly difficult to line up some holes and push the pins through. The moment of truth came when I first dry-fired. The first stage is a light 2.5lbs. It takes no effort to hold it there, but just the slightest squeeze will release the hammer. The second stage is listed at 2lbs, but it felt like mine was a little lighter. There is no creep. Just an instantaneous clean break. There is no overtravel that I can discern. Reset the hammer and release the trigger, and there is a solid click to let you know that the trigger is reset. This trigger is a work of art, and Larue should be proud of their efforts. I will likely obtain another in the near future. (The other pin is tucked away in the instruction page deeper inside the can) - IT Manager ******************************************************************* Reviewed by Anonymous 2 days ago I will start by saying thank you Larue! I was lucky winner number 55 in the MBT Christmas give away and I LOVE this trigger. I own several Larue rifles with both the AR Gold and the Geissele triggers in them for comparison, as well as many match triggers in my bolt rifles. The quality of construction of this trigger is second to none, extremely well made. Installation was easy and the trigger feels fantastic. The reset is not as short as the AR Gold trigger but I much prefer the feel of this MBT with its wider blade it just fits perfect. Another fantastic product from a wonderful company. If you are on the fence about one of these I say go for it, they are one of if not the best AR triggers on the market! Thank you to all the employees at Larue Tactical, you are a phenomenal company making phenomenal products! ****************************************************************** Reviewed by Anonymous 1 week ago I love this trigger. The first stage take-up is short but well defined. It feels a bit less than the SSA it replaced but still enough to to give total control. (I do have a set screw installed to take up trigger pre-slack so that could be the reason the first stage feels shorter) The stop as it hits the second stage is solid, well defined and very controllable. Just a bit more squeeze and the break is nice and crisp. As with the first stage, the weight to break the trigger feels less than the SSA and when it goes, it feels like breaking a pencil lead. It's instantaneous and there is absolutely no slop or travel. It's simply squeeze and break. The broad width of the trigger feels great on my fat finger, it just fits. I can comfortably say that I like this trigger more than the SSA. (which I also love) I wish I had an SSA-E on hand to compare to but the MBT is going to be a tough act to follow. Mark and company scored another win with this one. ****************************************************************** Reviewed by Anonymous 3 days ago The MBT is an absolute fantastic trigger. First stage is well defined, and the second stage is consistently great, with a very nice low pull. I have a single stage CMC trigger installed in one of my hunting ARs and liked it, but the MBT is better in every way. Thanks to everyone at LaRue. ******************************************************************* Reviewed by Anonymous 3 days ago There have been some great reviews thus far. I'm an engineer, not an author, so I will just summarize it with one word - damn. I've been a very pleased SSA fan for several years, but my first impression of the MBT is that it is superior in perhaps every way. The craftsmanship is incredible, and I love the wide, flat face of the trigger. It is very inviting. Much like the RAT stock, I had my doubts that LaRue could out-do the trigger people, but they continue to impress. ******************************************************************** Reviewed by Anonymous 1 week ago I won an MBT trigger through the give-away this year and it arrived yesterday - I appreciate it very much and am grateful for the gift from LaRue! The trigger was beautifully packaged and looks very well built. I have not yet installed or used it yet, but am writing this review to really commend LaRue for their continued excellent service and products. Every time I have called their offices I have talked to a live person who is polite and helpful. Every time I have ordered something from them it has arrived quickly and I have received extra swag such as hats, bbq rub, etc. Most importantly, every time I have bought one of their products they have worked perfectly! It is a fantastic company and has a reputation that is well deserved! View Quote |

Two weeks ago, I heard one guy bit*hing about the price of the MBT in a local shop (I was wearing a LaRue hat so he asked if I knew anything about the MBT and why they were “so expensive”). I shut him up when I explained how I spent $700 back in ’01 to have an Anschutz trigger installed in my Stolle Panda Palma rifle and that a good trigger is everything to a precision rifle. Now, I have to track that guy down and tell him that the MBT is just as crisp as that $700 Anschutz. |

Not knowing much about how geissele triggers - other than I think my 7.62 OBR 20" came with one style about 6 months ago.
Knowing I like the trigger and "Outshot a Shootist" by nearly halving the group down to under 0.5MOA. Would you put the MBT on your list? I do know the trigger is not like my Weatherby Mark V - a very fine trigger, no creep, clean break. The reviews seem excellent - I just don't know if swapping out a 6 month old trigger is worth it. Love my rifle - weather has been great in Mass - heading to the range again after Christmas Break for the kids. |

Hi Mark, My name is Bartholomew Bottlgie, and I just wanted to say thank you so much for your generosity. I was a winner in the MBT 2S Trigger Giveaway and I got her yesterday. I’m dropping her in today and going to get some range time with her tomorrow. It’s such a beautifully crafted trigger that I’m scared to even open the tin lol!. I have never won anything before and I’m still in shock that I am fortunate enough to have won this beautiful specimen. The engraving #xx/100 as well as the 2day shipping were both beyond amazing. It’s not common for people/companies to go out of their way like that-- and I just wanted to say I can’t thank you enough. This will never leave my possession and you guys are top of the line. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!! Mark you are the man! Happy New Year and may you have a great 2015. I will continue to wear my LaRue hat proudly. You are the best Mark and I’m still shaking I can’t believe I have this trigger! View Quote |

Well I've finally had a chance to put her through the paces. I would first like to say thank you to Mark. You are so good to us here on the forum and don't think it isnt appreciated. Onto the review.
The trigger came with usual swag which is always appreciated, even though it was a gift. It was packaged perfectly and not just tossed into a ziplock bag like some others do. Initial impression is its too damn pretty to bury inside of my lower. Yes, it's just a trigger, but it is a work of art. No machine marks, no ugly black trigger here, it is truly a work of art. The install was super easy. I dropped the safety selector out as others suggested and the trigger dropped in with no troubles at all. Function tested flawlessly and the trigger felt extremely smooth and broke like glass with no overtravel. The reset is very crisp and noticeable, not as audible as my RRA 2 stage match, but also much smoother. After reset you have to depress the trigger approx 2 mm to hit the second stage again. The second stage feels like it requires less pull than the first stage which I like but does not break quite as light as an SSA-E, but a whole lot less than my RRA. The trigger itself is wide and flat which I love. It gives a nice positive pad for your finger and the sharper edges make it easier to keep finger placement the exact same shot after shot for precision work. My over all impression? it will be my go to trigger with all my non 3 gun builds, I will still stay with the SD3G for those unless Mark gets into the single stage game. I am thoroughly impressed and it ranks up there with the big trigger makers for sure. I'm giving it a big thumbs up and will be buying more for future builds. Onto the pics |

Mike_P,
Thanks for the legwork ... going out to shoot 25-straight is ever so arduous. All funnin' aside, the 1 MOA All Day Challenge dovetails nicely with our goals here. ML ETA - was the bullhorn flyer on the bottom left aiming point ? |

But he still missed the bullseye! JK, nice shooting!!!!!
I am thinking I would like to replace the triggers in a couple of other AR's, but one of them is a Colt large pin... Has anybody modified an MBT for a large pin Colt receiver yet? I will probably be buying an MBT in a couple of weeks to go in a new lower I am building for the 6.8SPC. (Shhh, don't tell my wife!!!). The old Stag (Piece of Crapola) lower with the Wilson trigger will eventually be relegated for use in a future AR-5.7..... Or be sold...... |
