I bought a new Bushy M4forgery today with the flattop receiver and the carry handle. Have yet to shoot the gun.
My question is this: I noticed there is a little bit of play in the carry handles rear sight assembly. Specifically I can wiggle it side to side a little bit. Also, the rear sight module is not exactly paralell with the carry handle. This diagram will be exaggerated but this is what I mean:
| | | | <------handle | | \ \ <------rear sight base at SLIGHT angle
Should I be worried about this? This is my first AR, so I didn't think it would hurt to ask ;)
That is the way it is supposed to be! There is a spring there that keeps the sight turned as you describe. This keeps the rear sight consistent. Some of the uppers I have owned had more play than others but it never affected the accuracy of them.
Some people will actually remove the rear sight and place a small weld on the back and then file it to a pint where there is less movement. I don't think it is necessary as the rear sight was designed this way to allow the rear sight to travel up and down without getting bound by ice, mud, dirt etc. A tight fit could cause problems in the field!
