I need help please. I have an st-22 dedicated upper that ran perfect right out of the box. I liked it so much I bought a conversion to use in my other AR's. it has been a nightmare.
I have polished the chamber and ramp. I was having extraction problems, so I start cutting the spring 1/4" at a time. Now I am still having extraction problems, but also it will not go into battery correctly and when it does it has started light striking. So about 30% I have stovepipes and 30% I have failure to go into battery 30% I have light strikes and 10 % it loads and fires properly.
I have tried it in 5 different AR's with 7 different black dog mags and even borrowed a CMMG mag from a friend to try. All no good. I think I can rule out AR's and mags as the issue because all of the mags work fine for the dedicated and I even tried it on the lower I use for my dedicated.
I really don't want to run lighter trigger springs because I will be using this kit in whatever AR I have out for the day and I don't want to replace all my trigger springs and risk reliability for 5.56.
So what do I do now?
I did notice my dedicated uses the black spring, but my conversion has the silver spring. should I switch to the black spring and start tuning back at the beginning??
Thanks for any help, and I really need help because I am frustrated!!
