Not to rip, but your experience reminds me of an experience I had with a buddy. 2 Years ago I brought my best friends brother with me to the range for a little target practice.
Let me first say that I had built a good reputation with this range over a 4 year time period, and even though I brought my Black Rifles in quite often (which aint to PC to some people) I was always welcomed, as I was known as a responsible shooter. Well that all changed when my best friends brother took aim with one of my Bushmasters. Now this guy was a military guy for some 10 years (Infantry...He was in charge of the SAW) anyhow I took about 45 minutes of refreshing his memory of range safety, and the such.
I handed him 2 thirty round mags, and told him to do a little practice shooting before we started shooting seriously (I thought I could trust this man because I’ve know him for several years, and he hadn’t shown any immature actions toward me or any firearms since I’ve known him). Since this guy had qualified many times with his Military issue M16, I decided to walk about 15 yards to get some coffee, so I didn’t put any undue pressure on him while he got use to shooting my rifle. As I was getting my coffee, I said hi to the regular range guy..Than from the other side of the plexi glass ALL HELL BROKE FREE!!! Yup 1 mag was emptied in about 5 seconds..And smoke waaas fricking everywhere...The range guys jaw just about hit the ground, but it aint over yet....Quickly the second mag was loaded, and this guy decided to fire the next full mag from the hip....while screaming at the top of his lungs HOOO YAHHHH (No I’m not Kidding)...All the way through the mag!!
Literally, all of the other 20+ people shooting quickly backed away from their stalls and decided to quickly move to the safe side of the plexi glass. I was sorta shocked, and frankly quite scared with what my pal had just done...and proceeded slowly to enter into the range (He had access to about 15 more loaded mags, and he looked eager to load another) thus after seeing a this Armchair-Rambo go postal I decided to enter with caution. Yup...He decided to load a 3rd mag, when about 5 to 6 rounds into it he had a failure to extract. Well this was the end to his shooting, but before I got in there to ask him what the hell was his malfunction...he decided to slam the rifle with an aluminum telestock to the concrete to try and expel the round ....Needless to say the tele-stock shattered, and before I could say a word the Range Supervisor had banned him, and scolded me!
Ever since that day, all the regulars joke about it..and it’s really sad because that one experience just gave all these guys a real bad experience with a particular style of rifle. I can go on for pages about the lessons I’ve learned from this, but I will conclude by saying the AR15 is a fine Rifle, and some people have no regard for it, thus giving it and the shooters of it a bad name.
Rottweilers and AR15's are my passion, but all it takes is a few bad apples, and it ruins it for everyone who appreciates, and responsibly handles these two things. The PC trolls are just waiting for people like my Best friends brother...so they can say...see..look..that’s what happens with these rifles or dogs!
I wish I could articulate my feelings better than I have, but please be responsible, as the majority of us are responsible and we don’t deserve to have our passions restricted due to a few people acting like Bozo's.
