Yup, you heard that right, the new SAR 3, by Spike's Tactical. :-)
It's been re-designed from the ground up. It was designed by myself and John Nason, and it's very well engineered.
Compared to the original SAR 1 and the SAR 2 it's over a full ounce lighter in all rail lengths, it's stronger, it's much stiffer, has less side to side movement and less up and down movement. It's much easier and faster to install and remove than the SAR 1 and SAR 2. It installs very similar to our current BAR rail and the new up coming BAR 2 rail. The rail itself mounts to a single 7075-T6 Billet Aluminum barrel using 8 T20 IP 8-32 flat head screws. The barrel nut is indexed with stainless steel shims just like the BAR rail. The rails are scalloped. It has built in Anti-Rotation tabs which will not allow the barrel nut or rail to rotate. The bottom rail on the SAR 3 extrusion was raised up by .250". There are sling swivel QD sockets in 6 locations. The barrel nut is designed to use a standard 2 or 3 pin USGI style barrel nut wrench although we plan to offer a professional grade 4 pin wrench which will engage in all 4 hole locations on the barrel nut. We maintained a 1.50" ID to keep it gas block and suppressor friendly. We plan to offer 7", 8" PDW, 9", 10", 11", 12", 12" Competition, 13.2", and 13.2" Competition. The PDW and Competition rails have full length top rails, partial bottom rail up towards the front, and short side rails up towards the front. It's a pretty awesome rail.. That's about all the info I can give out at this time. Should be one of the nicest and lightest rails on the market. :-)
