I know this is probably a dangerous question to raise here but I have been really enjoying my custom 260 bolt rifle built on a Proof Research barrel and seriously need a 260 barrel for my tOBR. I know the LT sparrels in 260 will probably be a while so I was thinking a Proof Research carbon barrel might bridge the gap. My question is: is the barrel extension on a Proof barrel compatible with a tOBR upper and BCG. The Proof barrels claim to be 100% DPMS compatible and I know a few people who have built AR10s with this barrel and a JP BCG with good results. Has anyone tried this? Not only do I not want to shell out the cash if it won't work, most importantly, I don't want to harm my tOBR. If it is not compatible, I will probably just build a complete upper that I can put on my tOBR but that kinda defeats the whole reason I bought a tOBR.

Yeah, I'm debating a bolt gun build or some other manufacturer barrel to scratch that faster bullet itch. I can do 1000 yard shoot every month and the range goes to 1200 so I hate to keep passing it up as I'm only here a little while longer

I would love to know mysellf in the same boat..  but would love a 6.5CM..   I have a field grade barrel i could scarp for the barrel extension and gas block...  just need a good company to make it happen !

Army posts usually have a ranges folks can use, sometimes it's a dedicated range like Ft. Irwin (770m max range ideal for 762 tOBR). This place has a multipurpose range they open up monthly or twice a quarter depending on training with berms starting at 100, steel from 500 to 1,000, and two more berms you could use.

Roger, I was thinking of Range 16 on Ft Campbell, but I should have known better because the steel targets only go to 800 yards.

I can't move Campbell any higher than #1 on my preference cheet

I shot the GAP grind there two years ago. It's awesome. 4-5 different ranges, all with steel. There is a mover range also.
It is my understanding that the FT Campbell range only goes to 600.
There is a range west of Land Between the lakes, I think it's Henry county gun club, goes to 600 and has all sorts of matches all the time. Some matches require membership though.

I think all you will have to do is swap for a TOBR barrel nut. My 7.62 field grade barrel is in an Aero upper and that was all I had to do... You might even find some folks here who would swap you a TOBR nut for a DPMS style nut......
