I thought all bushmasters had a chrome lined bore. Turns out, chrome extends barrell life, but degrades pinpoint accuracy.
Here is the quote from Bushmaster:
Our DCM/CMP and Varminter barrels are not chrome lined. They are manufactured from 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel which is the highest quality barrel steel available. Chroming the bore cuts down on the accuracy of the barrel as the non chrome bores have sharper lands and grooves. Our chrome lined barrels are held to one half the Mil-Spec tolerance while the non chrome lined bores can be held to one half that tolerance again for the best accuracy possible.
Still have not shot the new rifle yet, interested to see what it will do, I am a perfectionist when it comes to rifle stuff.
I would be interested to chat with you about the different results you have had with ammo in yours. I plan on trying everyting from a ballisic tip 40 grainer to a 75grain TAP round.
