Several years ago I was afforded the opportunity to acquire my first SR-15, a Silverado legacy rifle.
It was sold to a FFL I used to work for, and when I started researching it, I found some great information.
Only 100 were made in that color. It has the KAC crest on the upper receiver, near the CH. Not all of my SR-15s have that crest, which is ok, but the ones that do just have that extra little bit of distinction.
A year later I was perusing the EE and came across something even rarer. We all know these to be Special Run pieces, and thank you @EAB for making it possible to get another piece of KAC history.
Then there were 2.
Coming into 2016, another Silverado appeared at work, and I decided it would be my 2nd
It had a few differences from my first Silverado, specifically the URX2 10.75, a castle nut instead of the lock-ring, and the gas block was different. There was also no crest on the upper receiver. I was ok with having one in the same series but slightly different in a good way.
Even one of the slot-head screws was cerakoted in place. Please forgive my YHM brake on there: I hadn't purchased a KAC silencer at that point. A NT-4 was on the radar, however.
By May of 2016, I had been watching the EE once again and decided to respond to an ad from JCap for some Special Run pieces, specifically the upper and LW URX. We had a good discussion of things I had he was looking for, and within a day or so we had come to a trade agreement. More things were en route!
This is where I extend enormous appreciation to Geno
simply because he made it possible to put a legacy SR-15 barrel and BCG together and this is where gathering a NT-4 became paramount
. I wasn't going to put anything but a NT-4 compensator on the front of that gun, and within a month, Silencer Shop had NT-4 M4QD-QDSS silencers for sale. That was a great purchase.
The rifle definitely looks better with my CompC3.
I also got my 3T from five7guy that month.
This leads into my next post.
