Zaius, it really depends on what you want it for. I have a fluted hvy barrel dissy that I am in the process of reconfiguring to an SPR/DMR. It is HEAVY! Even with the fluting.
For a standard "do it all" carbine, I'd go with the M-4 contour if standard production is your only option.
If you're willing to spend a little more, get the "Govt. barrel contour". Often referred to as the "Pencil barrel". I believe the Bushmaster versions are 1/9 not 1/12.(?) Then send it to KKF for his long gas tube dissipator conversion.(did I just blaspheme?)
It will be light, handy, reliable, yet still accurate.
BTW, where are you in NC?
