What is Silver Dollar City other than a big amusement park, does it have something that set's it aside as different or better than say a 6 flags???
It's not a real huge amusement park...much smaller than a Six Flags. There are a few roller coasters, your standard log flume and river rapid water rides, a dozen or so other rides and attractions, and tons of crafts and shops. The "appeal" of it is that the whole theme is of a late 1800's village.
The caves are actually the original draw. Silver Dollar City was built to give people something to do while waiting to tour the caves. This was in the days when the tour took 6 to 8 hours moving by candle light before running electricity down made it an hour long. They gradually added stuff to make it more of a stand-alone amusement park.
I'm not really an expert on the place; this was my first time there.
