Is there any real reason that I should not send a 16 inch Colt lightweight upper to you guys to cut down to 10.0 inches, or just a hair forward of the gas block? I own a number of SBRs and am fully aware of the ballistic disadvantages. Are there any functional concerns? Obviously the gas port needs to be opened, but will the decrease in dwell time from being 0.3 to 0.5 inches shorter than my other guns make it less reliable or substantially more detrimental to the action? I only intend to stick an A2 or A1 flash suppressor on it. I want it to run well without one of my cans.
