Behold!
And I award thee fourteen and a half internets for posting pictures of a rifle that can actually be loaded! An intersting question - assuming you could find a way to load a rifle without the charging handle - how long would it keep running? Hypothetically speaking the BCG rides on rails within the upper and just "floats" in the CH recess. Experiment time? Not with my guns, of course! Meh, I've got spare charging handles - I wouldn't decline either of them! ~Augee |

When I first took it out of the box, I thought they had sent me a SBR 6944. I had to really look closely to determine that the rifle didn't have a normal A2 flash suppressor. With the flash photography, you can tell where the SAW extended flash suppresor begins in my last picture. (It's not that obvious in normal light.) SAW doesn't even use a crush or peel washer. It's just machined to fit and index perfectly. If the finish was just a little darker, I don't know if you could ever tell it was there. Does anybody know what the "M" signifies on the 6944 barrel? Best Regards, |

For those that are trying to track the production numbers for Colt 6940 rollmarks...
I was looking through the DSG Arms forum for a current discount code and stumbled upon this bit of information: Originally Posted By RustyTX:

The quality work on the pinned flash hider was excellent, you could not tell and I had to be shown where it was pinned. The rifle came with the reliability package and the show price was1695.00. |

I have used that same tool for 6 barrels (inremoval and installs) without a hitch or have wear like the one shown in the picture. Just an FYI, the 6940 barrel extension is not like a regular barrel. I am sure everyone knows this but just to be on the safe side. If you scroll back a page you can see my extra barrel or go to the IAR page and there should be some detailed pics of when we dis-assembled one.

Has the 6940 Upper receiver ever been produced with the SOCOM barrel? Someone was showing me the upper today and claimed it had the SOCOM barrel. I was under the impression they all came with the M4 profile.

Haven't heard of one with a SOCOM barrel unless it was retrofitted, as far as Colt is concerned, only 300 civilian rifles should have SOCOM profile barrels. A quick check under the HGs should confirm or deny it. Who knows maybe they made another special run? Or he could just be mistaking the M4 carbine barrel for the SOCOM. ~Augee |

Thanks for the info. I may call up there during the week and see if I can talk to someone else about it. They wanted $1200 for the 6940 upper. Thought it was a little high.
