Guys up front are getting a lot of questions pertaining to this. So, we're back there with our Rubik's Cube putting together an answer sheet for the Sales Team. Some of you know the answer already ... ETA - We're gonna need a matrix. A 14.5", 16", and 18" tOBR barrel in 5.56 will fit a tAR if using a tAR barrel nut ... Or any Stealth barrel, with a tAR barrel nut. More to follow. |

10.5 5.56 & 300 blk for tOBR requested
I'm also curious if the short barrels are offered for a tOBR, can we call to order a factory SBR with one of the offered lengths? Without hand guards available it's going to be hard to do short barrels with long handguards... |

Let's see...
Put the brain of a mountain gorilla in a giant squid... hmm... Transplant the claws of a lobster to the legs of a Macaw... hmm... |

Hummm, maybe I can buy a 7.62 barrel for my 5.56, keep the carrier but change the bolt, then load some rounds with a really deep seated bullet (and maybe a crimp to hold the bullet in) then I can take a video of it and I can always blame "Larur" on youtube if it doesn't shoot, oh and since it's a 7.62, maybe I can close up the gas port a bit since the inside diameter of the barrel obviously passes moar gas...

I could be wrong here (and probably am), but most ar15 barrels should fit most ar15 uppers. Same was true to a lessor degree with barrel nuts - as some uppers required proprietary nuts.
Now my wag is that if a tOBR has an assembly that includes a proprietary nut - the barrel might be good to go, but you might need to pull off the gas block (who knows, maybe even the muzzle break/flash suppressor) to change out the nut. Then again, it all depends on the nut. Flip it around, if the tOBR requires a proprietary nut... |

Hope you guys get the sales end figured out. If you remember I selected a 16 inch PTOBR barrel when my turn came up for the Match Grade barrel. When it came in I swapped the 18 inch PredatAR barrel for the 16 inch PredatOBR. The swap was relatively simple except the barrel nut for the PredatAR is a smaller outside diameter than the PRedatOBR barrel nut.
ETA: This required me removing the PST gas block on the PredatOBR and the gas block on the PredatAR barrels so the barrel nuts could be swapped. The 16 inch PredatOBR barrel with the PST now resides on my PredatAR. And my PredatOBR has a spare 18 inch PredatAR barrel. This was on two 7.62 riflesbut I'm pretty sure the same process will work on the 5.56 rifles. Mark, if your guys could ask which model rifle the PredatOBR barrel will be installed then the folks that prepare the barrels could select the appropriate barrel nut. |

Seems like it would be pretty easy for LT to just offer heavy barrel tars now. Or just the uppers.

Personally I think the PredatAR with a TOBR barrel would be the perfect ar15. Basically a Costa Black. I think the take down feature of the TOBR is amazing, but I also think the novelty of it would wear off after awhile, and I would leave the rifle fully assembled 99% of the time. Switching barrels is a really cool feature too, but I don't know that it makes more sense than changing uppers. At least for me anyway.
However, the PredatAR with a heavier barrel, and adjustable gas block would be the cat's meow. I have the money set aside for one, and I have been keeping my fingers crossed that it might be an option in the future. One of the things I love about Laurue is that they listen to their customers. We asked for lowers, we got lowers. We asked for sparrels, we got sparrels. And so I will wait patiently until I can buy or build a Costa Black. |

Wish I could buy a tobr barrel for my 308 since I can't afford a tobr.

A 300 blk barrel for the TAR would be awesome, I would also be in for one of those birds with lobster claws as feet from page one

hmmmm, do I sell #415 and get a black one.
JK. But now I've got to get a black one |

Well, our folks are telling me sparrel sales have been brisk, even without me taking forever for some mix and match answers.

Hmmm. So I can order a 16" tOBR barrel for the 16" tAR I ordered (switch nuts). Then I can put the tAR barrel in my tOBR for a lightweight option, or sell it to someone who would like to go that route..... Might have to order that barrel. Switching the nuts is just a matter of removing the gas block and MD, right?

I'm thinking about getting something to swap my 16" OBR-H for an 18"... then put the 16" in my tAR, then have the tAR 16" for my tOBR... or build something with it... then there is the OBR-L to think about
|
|
Well my Aero 7.62 upper arrived today. TOBR field grade barrel drops right in........ But...... not enough threads on the nut to tighten the barrel into the upper. Looks like the nut behind the gun needs a new nut for the gun..... Or a special washer to use as a spacer! Either way it looks like the PST and the muzzle device both need to come off......

Mark,
Bear with me here, but I think I see a way out of this madness. First off, don't misconstrue anything I'm saying to over look barrel sales. Selling your barrels is one of the most exciting developments yet and should absolutely continue. But (again, bear with me here) what about a modular ordering process for your rifles? The menus could be something like this: SELECT CALIBER: >5.56 NATO >7.62 NATO >.300 BLK >.338 FED SELECT UPPER PLATFORM: >Stealth >OBR >PredatAR >PredatOBR SELECT BARREL LENGTH: >10.5 (5.56 & 300blk only) >12.5 (5.56 & 300blk only) >14.5 >14.5 pinned >16 >18 >20 SELECT BARREL PROFILE/ GAS SYSTEM: >Light contour (PredatAR style) >Stealth >Heavy PST Barrel SELECT HAND GUARD LENGHT: >Stealth hand guard (13.2, 12, 11, etc.) >PredatOBR hand guard (long, short, SBR) >OBR hand guard (long, short, SBR) WILL YOU PURCHASE A LOWER: >Yes >No |

Would love it if they sold stripped TOBR upper receivers too. Not to mention, well yeah I will mention, TOBR handguards in various lengths separately..... That way a person could piece together a complete upper over time. Can't think of a better way for a workin' stiff to get a quality weapon without his wife finding out......

PST that I can install on my ptAR would be awesome for my SF silencer.
Am I the only one that REALLY REALLY wants a .22lr barrel setup for the tOBR?? Maybe sell the barrel nut for the tOBR then find a match grade .22 LR barrel from someplace... |
