I'll say hello, being new to the board here.
I have been looking in for a year or so and have just now registered.
I have a lower built with a two-stage DCM trigger and now am considering the upper. The V-match 20" was my first consideration. The bushmaster accuracy claims from folks is what originally got me interested in the AR-15. An auto loader with pistol grip that is very accurate to boot. Claims of way down range accuracy have gotten my attention, not to mention all the variations and accessories that can be added any old time to want to change the furniture around. The SAAMI vs chrome lined Mil-spec I'm still not decided on..(both seem to have strong advantages)
Question: Bolts matching barrel extensions?
I see the DCM (SAAMI spec chambers)come with a bolt that is "matched" to the barrel extension. After talking to Bushmaster it still wasn't clear to me what exactly they do to the face of this bolt that does all the "matching" happen.
What I'm wondering is: how much difference is there between the DCM (Varmenter same as DCM, I assume) and the V-match set up in terms of the bolt vs barrel.
The other thing is: you can buy the v-match upper without the bolt and carrier assembly. If I buy or build that on my own, (all Bushmaster parts) Do I have the same thing or is there any "matching" that takes place in the "V-match" upper purchased all ready to snap on?
Sorry to go on and on here, but I do appreciate you folks taking the time to respond.
