I will be building a new rifle soon and am exploring different barrel options.  My current rifle has a 16" DD mid with low profile gas block.  What would be the weight difference between this barrel and...

1.  RA Select 16" mid profile
2.  RA Select 16" reg profile
3.  RA Select 14.5"

I am thinking of going with a 14.5" with pinned flash hider but am curious what the weight difference actually is.  Will probably be doing this upper with one of your barrels and one of your 11" rails with a low pro gas block...pending you get more of those rails in

If your DD barrel is similar to THIS it weighs 28.0oz.

The weights of our barrels are as follows:

1.  RA Select 16" mid profile - 30.4oz
2.  RA Select 16" reg profile - 32.4oz
3.  RA Select 14.5" - 29.0oz

One more question though...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the SS barrel over the Melonite barrel?  I never looked into this before.

SS barrels are inherently more accurate, as there is no coating between the rifling and the round.  Melonite coating hardens the metal, extending barrel service life by reducing friction in the bore and lessening bore surface wear.

Thanks again.  I am going to have to research the SS vs Coated a bit more to figure out what I want.  I have been slowly getting parts together for my next build.  Could you send me a price quote for one of your 14.5" select barrels with a pinned flash hider (can you pick 2-3 different ones that would make me legal and quote the price) with a low pro gas block?  Would that setup make it possible for me to still install one of your evo rails at my local gunsmith to my upper?

Before you pin the muzzle device, the barrel nut and gas block will need to be installed on the barrel.

I have the 16" select barrel which weighed exactly 32.4oz when I got it as stated above. I had it fluted which dropped the weight to 27oz. Not much, but I like how it turned out. I don't remember seeing a mid profile when I ordered. Could of missed it though. Very nice barrel.

Now if RA would offer a lightweight SS barrel or any type of lightweight barrel, in the Wylde chamber, I would be building another upper.
