I'm a relatively new KAC owner, and have picked up a handful of things, including a CQB SBR, 11.5" in 5.56 that I'm waiting on the stamp for.
I'm wanting a KAC suppressor to match - whatever will offer the best performance for the weight and length. I don't want anything over 18 oz (no NT4), and I'm not really interested in the 5.56 CQB. I was just looking at getting a 5.56 QDC in FDE, but I'm intrigued by the 7.62 CRS, which I could pair with the new KAC flash hider with 5.56 threads.
It *seems* that the two suppressors are the same length, and the 7.62 is actually an ounce lighter, according to the KAC website. I would assume that the 7.62 would actually be a little bit quieter on a 5.56 gun due to a slightly larger diameter. It seems that all of the decibel information I've seen has been with the 7.62 on .30 caliber rifles, not on 5.56 rifles, so I haven't seen a fair comparison of the two suppressors on a 5.56 gun. I'm curious to know if anyone here has tried this or can make a good comparison between the two, on a short 5.56 rifle. It seems like KAC is approving this type of combination with the release of their new flash hider - I just haven't come across any data on it.
I'm only planning on using this suppressor with this one rifle (plenty of other suppressors for other rifles), so I don't care about the 7.62 versatility - just sound reduction and the regular variables such as weight/length/reliability/durability, etc.
Thanks in advance for any info.
**Also, does anyone know if I can pick up a chrome KAC bolt assembly in 5.56, or just the bolt carrier? I saw a chrome bolt for the SR-25 but didn't know if they also made one for the SR-15.**
