IMO, the Socom balances better than the gov't profile. It's more weight, but it shifts the center of balance a bit closer to the receiver and away from the muzzle. It tends to get better accuracy and barrel life, as well, but you'll only see that with rapid fire and a very high round count. For suppressed use, you'll see less POI shift.
As an aside, you might want to switch to an H2 buffer if you get the Socom. This will prevent bolt bounce at cyclic rates.
The gov't profile is simply lighter, which is its own benefit when carrying the weapon for any length of time.
Either will work fine, it boils down to preference and intended use.
