Although WWP is a non-profit organization, their operating costs alone consume the majority of the money that is donated. Our goal is to support local events, or groups that are not "non-profit companies" but that are just soldiers trying to do things for their fellow warrior. This hunt is being put on by my good friend Maj. Rex Vehrs, an active duty soldier in the Warrior Transition Unit at Ft. Hood. Any and ALL donations made to this event will be used for THIS EVENT ONLY. We do not want cash, we are trying to keep total transparency so paypal (I have receipts for donations) and a gift card (which will have a receipt) is the best option. Depending on the amount of participation we get, we will either get one Wal-Mart gift card or as funds permit, a secondary gift card to an outfitter like Cabela's or Bass Pro. Fellow Patriots and Warriors, Wow - I can't tell all of you how deeply appreciative and humbled I am that you are supporting this amazing event! We are about to positively change the lives of six great American Warriors by recognizing them for their sacrifices - with your needed help! Some highlights to this event are: 1. Five Wounded Warriors of various eras (two are wheel chair bound) will be attending along with one Son (16 years old) of a Soldier that was killed in Afghanistan last year. The Father told his son that he would take him hunting for the first time when he got back - and, sadly, never did make it home to do so. Story of 16 Yr old's Father Hopefully, we can take all of them on a hunt of a lifetime. 2. We want to show deep appreciation and recognize all six of these individuals for their sacrifice to the nation for others. 3. Fellow Wounded Warriors are planning, organizing, and executing this event. None of them are taking any money and all donations go directly to the event and the participants. 4. We will be honored to have Chad Hennings (Air Force Veteran, A-10 Pilot in Gulf War, Dallas Cowboy, 3x Superbowl Winner and Founder of Wingmen Men's Christian Ministry) at the event. More on Chad Hennings - Click here. 5. Lyndon Nugent (President LBJ's Grandson, US Army fixed wing and rotary wing pilot, Attorney at Law) will be there and is the gracious one offering up the Ranch for the hunt. 6. Chuck Hawthorne (Retired Marine Major and fellow combat veteran) will be there and playing some great music. Please consider sharing this with your friends and reach out to AH64Pilot (Steve) to make donations. Again, we deeply appreciate all of this amazing group's support of this - you are making a positive difference with your huge Servant Hearts! At the completion of this event, we will post a report with photos of the hunt so that you can see where your kind donations went to. In Deep Thanks, Rex Vehrs MAJ, IN US Army Wounded/Injured Warrior Rangers Lead the Way! Do Good! View Quote Thank you! BigDozer66 |

Why are we asked to donate to a personal account and not to the organization it's self? I'm not inferring malcontent, just doing my homework. My wife is a regional director for a national non profit charity, and this is unorthodox in my experience.
|
|
I believe we are contributing funds to help host the WW's and make the experience better. The land, the food, the lodging, is not coverd by the organization.
You may make a donation to them directly, but this is for this event only. WW has always appreciated the help given to its warriors by land owners and private clubs. |

Thanks again for being the pointman on this here Steve. I could not have said it any better myself, Thank You Wes! As far as an "organization" is concerned, this is none of that. This is wounded warriors actively in the Warrior Transition Unit taking other wounded warriors retired or otherwise out to a hunt at LBJ Ranch. This sir, is as grassroots as it gets. I am going out on a limb here in saying that if this is successful a couple of next years candidates will come from this very site. Stick around new guy...you'll see why the rest of us pay for memberships, this site is truly awesome so long as you don't shit on your mattress. Steve |

Fellow Patriots and Warriors,
I apologize for the tardiness of this report - but, thanks to all of you, we had an event that can be described in one word - MIRACULOUS! Comaraderie, fellowship, healing, therapy, and new friendships forged were some of the happenings of the First Annual LBJ Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventure. Your contributions and generous donations made for an unforgettable event! The food was delicious, the hunting was truly outstanding (with all Warriors and the young man that lost his Father KIA in Afghanistan, all getting wonderful White Tail Bucks and an Exotic each), the music was pure beauty, and the campfire warming to the soul. Here are a few pictures that we took, with more to follow when the photographer gets them to us: http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/LBJPic.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/LBJPic2.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1467413_10201603689588799_1037857805_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1464594_10201603690188814_1436654993_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1455964_10201595659148043_898279782_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1450352_10201595657267996_1567923382_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1393627_10201595665108192_1995612252_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/994037_10201595661028090_1313964052_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1474471_10201595661988114_1467991560_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1475926_10201595664108167_542786382_n.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/8557BB1C-1DD8-B71C-0E7A274C45CB3800.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/FF38F8C4-155D-451F-678CCA6222A6FD79-large.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/rangerk9/1456794_10152035443952922_722752874_n.jpg Again, you all have moved me with your generosity and Servant Hearts!
