Yep, very nice. Especially the LRT fore-end. Personally, even though KAC and Daniel Defense fore-ends are more money, I prefer the LaRue.

Really, don't start. you'd be bringing a knife to machine-gun fight.

You don't see the BSOD because it doesn't have one. Doesn't mean it doesn't hang though. Even Unix hangs (which is completely different from OSX).

oh, you've wound me up now.....

Why We Hate Macs

* Pricing -- Apple's pricing scheme is outrageous. I could get a PC that's nearly twice as fast as an iMac for half the price. This, my friend, is why Apple owns less than five percent of the computing market.

* Compatibility -- When it comes to software compatibility (especially games), the PC wins, no questions asked. Very few games are compatible with Macs; just ask any hardcore computer gamer. There are many Mac users who have an extra PC for the sole purpose of game playing.

* The Dock Bar -- If you're gonna copy off of the Start Menu, at least do it right. There are several disadvantages to the Dock Bar. Its size, location, and usability problems are just a few.

* File Backups -- XP offers a backup utility so you can select files to back up, and select a destination for the backup. You can back up to external media, you can schedule automatic backups, and you can restore from your backups. With OS X, Apple advises that you pay for a .Mac account to use to back up files.

* Extra Costs -- One of the biggest misconceptions made by Mac users is that when you buy a PC, you have to fork over hundreds of extra dollars because "Microsoft makes you buy a bunch of extra stuff." I find that odd, because I haven't had to pay a dime extra since I bought my PC, nor have any of my PC using friends. Instead, it's the other way around; once you've paid the thousand some odd dollars for the Mac itself, you have to shell out another thousand or two for the monitor, and if you want "premium services" with .Mac, that's more £. Did I mention they don't come with a floppy drive?

* Ease of Use -- When it comes to ease of use, Windows XP tops the charts. Not only does it have a layout that's easily understood, the OS includes a comprehensive help database to assist you, and programs to help you with everything from networking to CD burning to installing new programs; something that is yet to be seen in OS X.

* Those annoying Switch commercials -- 'nuff said

* Support -- If your dog eats your hard drive, or you spill coffee on your computer and it some how leaks down and soaks your motherboard, it's gonna take a while to get that fixed if you're a Mac user, unless the Apple store is in your backyard. First, you have to find out the 200-letter name of the part you're missing, call Apple, order the part, and then wait a month for the parts to be delivered. Your computer sits in the corner, useless the entire time. Then, when the piece finally arrives (if it didn't break during shipping), you have to find out where the piece goes, and then struggle for hours trying to get the piece to fit. If you're a PC user and this happens, all you have to do is take your machine to the nearest computer shop, or order the parts from dabs.com for one fifth the price of an apple mouse...

This has gone WAY of thread.

The worst thing about Mac's is the users..........

Disprove about that one

I come from a photography background when it comes to PC vs Mac's (I used to do press photography) and the biggest problem I have with Mac users is their insistence that Mac's are better for graphics, this is just not true now.
Now, the most accurate colour rendition is only available on PC (Matrox Parhelia) and the most accurate coloured monitor is PC (Barco reference, and Sony Artisan).

Also, Photoshop has code optimised for P4 chips. Rob Galbraith did a test of a dual processor Mac and a dual processor Dell and the Dell won by a margin.

I like Mac's, in fact I'll be buying an ibook for the missus when her PC laptop dies, but thats simply because Mac's are simpler to use for non-computer literate people.

Thats another thing, Mac's are aimed at divvy's. Theres even a part on the mac help website that tells you how to pick up and carry your mac.

Also, PC's do not crash very often, in fact, I can't remember when mine last crashed, but thats the difference, you have to be competent using them for them to work perfectly. Mac's just work out the box, doesn't mean they are any good though, as they therefore must be aimed at the lowest common denominator...

Anway, now you see why i don't like macs.

Doesn't really matter anymore - Mac's are going to be Intel 'PCs' soon...

Mac OS XI will probably be Windows Longhorn (aka Vista)

(Nice silencer though!)

Does this mean the LaRue fore end is better than the Daniel Defence or not?

Seems we're way off topic this time,

Oh and Zionist, I'm available for dinner and drinks at the Fox and Hounds, but I'm not a sailor, is that a problem?

Daniel Defense is better than Larue (in my opinion as I have a couple of DD's) but apart from that, I want a big steak dinner at Li'l Abners Nr Marana.

As a company, LaRue seem the nicer to deal with. The personal touch matters.

I shall be buying LaRue...

Never dealt with any of them, got mine through a 3rd party.
ACR26 recently got a Larue 12.0. I had a look at it and it does seem nice and well made.
I went for the DD's because they're the lightest ones available. I wanted to build a light rifle and did manage to achieve this. It only weighs 9.5lb c/w scope.
I'm happy
Mark
It's slightly different to this now

It would be a lot lighter if you got rid of that scope + bipod.

HARDCORE!

That's right, I have. I'm 8'10" tall and weigh 800lbs and it's all muscle.
And I'm so damned handsome, witty and charming that I'm the proverbial fanny magnet.
In fact, sometimesat all times I have to beat the ladies off with a stick with a bit of dogshit on it and a nail on the end

Actually that's the magpul MIAD grip kit with the enhanced trigger guard.

I like it

DD or Larue, they are all good bits of kit.

I went with the Larue, very efficient service!
I got the feeling they are a good honest company, any of the US crowd know different?

I would certainly buy from them again:-
The old M4 needs an upgrade, out with the YH and in with a Larue!

Any advantages over say an ERGO grip?

ANdy

Well the front and rear inserts are changeable so you can set it up in many ways. IIRC it comes with 4 rear and 3 front inserts. There's also a removable core to hold various things like 3rds ammo, spare bolt & firing pin and some other stuff.
It's all personal choice. I've had the Hogue grips, which I like, and std ones. but I decided to standardise so I went for the magpul's on most of my rifles.
the Highpower rifle still has the std grip, 'cause that's in the rules.
Check out the Magpul forum
Or their Website

You can also buy the magpul trigger guard on it's own. The reason for the trigger guard design is so people in cooler climates (Not where I am!) can wear gloves (and or swat/military & police, etc.) and still get there finger comfortably on the trigger. Just like HK enlarged the trigger guard on the Socom pistol.

I got to see the LaRue up close. It's a fine piece of cnc goodness. I own a carbine length Yankee Hill and a Samson rail. They all have small differences, if I was from Texas I'd probably favor the LaRue. I'm from Massachusetts and the Samson is made there. I also like the Samson because you can remove the lower portion if needed it's M203 compatible.

Here's a picture of the Samson I have:
