Edit to title and a tack to attract a few more folks,u352 |
i do im in summerville. i will probaly be there this sunday actually. which range did you have in mind, boggy head or twin ponds? twin ponds is alot nicer but boggy head is usually less crowded. i almost always go to boggy head myself.
its always great to meet local shooters. we sorta tried this once before but only me and one other showed up. still had a great time. brohawk knows how to cook on the grill |
Charleston, the north area here
I shoot with a bunch from Gunco.net. lemme know and we can shoot some stuff. funshow this weekend. looking forward to getting my knife sharpened, jerky, and some blown glass crap. actually, I will be looking for a new beretta Gary |
i as thinking next weekend dosnt mater what day i usualy go to the range up in bethera dont know with one that is
down bethera road? that dead ends into boggy head rifle range. twin ponds is closer to HWY 17. i couldnt make it this weekend (28th-29th) becasue im on call for work. |
i was thinking feb 4-5 myself i got to get some stuff ready for turky this weekend
Charleston here...I'm down for Feb. 4-5, New to the area, haven't gone for any aroma therapy in quite a while. Let me know whats up
i dont care wich rang we go to but its been along time since iv been to twin ponds i dont know if you guys would rather meet some were then go or just meet ther i dont care eather way if not northern born we can meet some ere and you can follow me out there
Doesn't matter to me....I'm in downtown Chas, near the bridge. Twin Ponds is closer to me..but I dont care...Kinda limited on ammo right now though: 100 45, 100 38spl, 450 .223....Let me know what the plans are
4-5 sounds great to me. i suggest boggy head simply because it will be alot less crowded on the weekends.
come on all you lowcountry folk lets have a real shoot for once! |
4-5 work for me as well
either is fine, Boggy head is a bit more crappy though. twin ponds has a shelter. either is fine by me though Gary |
Sunday is best for me. My schedule is normally slammed on Saturdays.
BTW, I contacted the Forest Service folks about renovating Boggy Head like they did Twin Ponds. They said they don't have budget for those projects. The Twin Ponds range was done with volunteer labor and donated materials. Basically, it would take a community effort by the folks who use the range to get Boggy Head done. |
id but some time in to fix it up cant do much on the mony side
thanks for tacking |
So, let's see if we can decide on a date.
All in favor of the 5th, say, "Aye." |
I'm down for the 4th or the 5th, I'm free either day, just let me know when and where
DITTO |
4am?....nah, just kidding, anytime is good...how bout sometime between 10-Noon?
OK, the 5th at Boggy Head.
I'll probably be out there early (around 0800). You lads who need to sleep off Saturday night shouldn't feel rushed. Show up whenever. The last time Legonas & I did this we burned some burgers. Do you guys want to do that? Animal flesh + fire = good. I could bring some Bubba Burgers. If you want steaks, bring your own and throw 'em on the grill. |
Sounds good Brohawk, I have no life, so sleeping off Saturday night will not be an issue....probably show up around 8:30-9:00.....How much ammo should be acceptible? Are we planning on tactical shooting or just line up and see who can punch the biggest hole thru the paper?
I don't expect to see an organized 3-gun match. Probably more of a social blasting kind of outing.
In case you haven't been out there, there is nothing to hang targets on. You need to bring a target stand, stakes, a box, or whatever. |
nothing to hang targets on??? HMMMM........ok...I'll see what I can dig up
I made a target stand out of PVC pipe. It was cheap and worked pretty good, but is in need of repair. A friend of mine made a free-standing frame with 2X4s that he staples his targets onto. BTW, NBR, where are you from? I grew up in Pennsylvania. After living in the South and learning a bit more history I've come to see myself as a Reconstructed Yankee. |
I'm from Oregon by way of Alaska....but I claim SC as my home
ill be there early morning on the 5th. as for targets, i always bring water jugs and coke cans. they make great "reactive" targets, just got to clean up after yourself when your done!
also, since i just sold my .40 pistols, ill have a few hundred rounds of .40S&W to give away to whoever has a .40 gun. |
I took apart a huge book case earlier...got a bunch of shelving to shoot at...maybe we could plan on building something permanet, like a scenario shoot, if we are going to continue to shoot here-just a thought...
Ok guys I live at Edisto so I have no idea where this range is but if you could give me some directions I will be there. Start time going to be around 0800 or 0900 ?
Hey rooster, here's the website, we're gonna be at Boggy head
www.fs.fed.us/r8/fms/rec/FMRR.pdf |
I have a .40 as well
just a note. last week rangers were giving out $50.00-$100.00 tickets for not using paper targets and shooting non-paper items. news to me by a friend who said he saw it.......... perhaps Gary |
Well, if everybody picks up at least one pack of target from Wally world, we'll be ok, right?
RGR NorthernbornRebel found it on another thread .Thanks though and we will see ya'll on the 5th
Trust me, anything permanent out there will get destroyed by the bubbas. Those idiots even shoot the board the range rules are posted on. If they keep getting stupid, the Forest Service may even close the place down. Some of those people make me wonder if all men really are created equal. |
so it boggy head feb 5th at 0800- 0900 and we burn some food out there
the board got taken down/destroyed by the "bubbas" went one week and it was just laying on the ground, honestly looked like someone hit it with there car. |
for a little while there was a group of people that would go and clean it becuse of that but i havent seen them in awile
Hey Brohawk are you a C-17 pilot?
For you guys interested in some tactical rifle shooting, there is a shoot on Feb. 25th at the Carolina Star, just outside Aiken. For more info go to the Georgia hometown board. It promises to be a fun shoot |
No. I was a Crew Chief. I fixed airplanes after the pilots broke them. I retired from the USAF in '99 and now work for a company doing aircraft maintenance training systems. Most of our business is C-17, but we have a little slice of the F-22 pie, too. |
Brohawk
My brother is a C-17 pilot, John Robinson, you ever fly with him? |
No. I've been out for six years. Most of the faces I was familiar with have moved on. It is a cool jet, eh? |
i might need a ride to go my car is in the shop and the car i was using craped out on me yesterday i have no luke when it comes to cars
where do you live specter? I'm in downtown Chas...let me know if you end up needin a ride
i live in scummerville almost in goose creek on myers road its between 176 and 17a
Ok, well....if you can't find a ride, let me know and we can set something up
I live in Mt Pleasant and myself and a couple other board members frequent both Boggy Head and Twin Ponds often. I will try and meet you guys out there this Sunday.
me me me me me Just kidding. I can go either day. I have two target stands and lots of paper targets and clay birds. |
I agree that sucks. I would be interested in working on range improvements. |
ok just to summerize!
The shoot will be at BOGGY HEAD RIFLE RANGE on SUNDAY, Feburary FIFTH (5) . seems most of us will be there early. i will be there until everyone else leaves, i run out of ammo, or the sun goes down. BRING WATER if you plan to stay for a while. i will probaly have a couple gallons just in case. (there also targets ) there is NO "shelter", no running water, and no bathrooms, and you will be quite a distance from any of these! bring target stands if you plan to shoot at paper targets. ill have some "alternative" targets and all that i ask is that you help me clean up before you leave. Directions and rules can be found HERE. |
