P.S.A.

financially things have been less than stellar at casa de Athompson for the past six months or so and my  job is ending after the first of the year....

That being said, due to the fact I spent $$$ on preps when things were going well, we are doing fine...

not looking nor asking for help or pity...just want the non-prepper types to examine their personal situation and do some  self examination too see where your at if something happens...

we joke about zombie invasion/rainier blowing up/ snowpacalypse, but every day life is what is most likely to "happen"....

fwiw: I'm drinking gin out of my stash currently..

Hang in there buddy.  I've been going through the same thing.  Look at this as a way to rotate your preps.

Hope for the best and PREPare for the worst. The most common problems are financial. I wish you the best and hope you can find something sooner rather than later.

As Boeing Is hiring again, and if there is a facility near you; it may be worth looking into.

I really appreciate the heads up, but I have a good reputation in my field and I have a better deal lined up than where I'm at currently ....might be off for a month, but ill be fine...

Careful, now. Overdotting can have serious side effects. Look at the recent pix and you'll see what it did to his head.

Good point. A lot of the experiences and lessons from the Great Depression were so ingrained in my grandparents that they have carried on into some of the 3rd and 4th generations. Food storage and preparedness in general have been a way of life for as long as I can remember.

On the employment front, along with Boeing, the BNSF and other railroads have been on a hiring spree for the last 6 months as well. Probably continue into next year. With all the grain and coal exports and the Asian goods being imported, we're actually running shorthanded right now. Lotsa money being thrown around for those who want it. As well as rail traffic has rebounded, I'm having a hard time seeing this next big economic hit some people keep talking about. But I suppose we'll see. Hope for the best, plan for the worst and all that...

WTF? Yards around here have been empty for months if you don't
count the road engines.

Sounds like something someone in Tacoma would say. On the BNSF, those Tacoma boyz couldn't get their proverbial shit together, so while things were really slow a lot of the traffic that used to be handled in Tacoma was instead taken to Seattle to be switched. A shift that continues to this day.

And I am not saying that traffic is back to pre-recession levels, but we're going pretty well for a supposedly poor economy.
