Hope I can't get in trouble for this.

My wife's grandfather passed away recently.  He had many old guns, including a double-barreled "sawed-off" shotgun.  I never knew this until we started going through his stuff.

I have a feeling that this shotgun is illegal in AL (I think they currently are).  I know the barrel length is well below 16".  Couple of questions:

1)  Is there a way to check with law enforcement to see if this gun is legal without getting in trouble?
2)  My mother-in-law (grandfather's daughter) lives in Arizona.  She says it's legal to register in AZ, and she wants it.  Is there a way to ship it to her without getting in trouble with the law (assuming it's illegal to own in AL)?

Thanks for the help.

I only know one person who has a SBS and SBR in Alabama. Other than him it's a nogo.
