you never know who is around or just who lives nearby.  this is a good reason to be careful of who you hang around with and to know those you let get close.

Thats what makes it scary.  No one suspected him - 'He was the last person I would ever think would do something like this...', etc.

Whats worse, my female co-worker was just down in Union co doing some training with them - no doubt he was there.  Not like he'd have done anything then - she's not living a high risk lifestyle like the article suggests they all were, but she's young and single, etc.
She freaked out when she saw that.  Can't blame her.

You cannot tell what a person thinks or does in private settings unless you really know them.
