is it as big of a hole as I am reading online?

We will be there for some wifes job training and she didn't want to be there alone (2 days middle of week)

Do not know where they are putting her up exactly where class is

I will ask about food when she finds out where we will be

Yes, it is a big hole.  It's not as dangerous as some areas.  When I was doing Real Estate, I would generally go wherever I needed to go and there were no places that I personally avoided during the daytime.  That said, I was always armed and I'm a pretty big guy.  I don't think I have 'victim' written anywhere on or around me.

So you will be at FTCC?

Parts of Fayetteville are worse than you heard. Some are good.
Assuming you like guns since you are on here. If you are looking for things to do take a look at the ASOM, Airborne Special Operations Museum.
ASOM
their website sucks, the museum doesn't. They are just opening  up a WWI exhibit.
It is about 3 miles from the school on Hay Street.

If you have no criminal record and are a US Citizen you can get a pass to enter Fort Bragg at the All American gate welcome center and visit the 82nd Airborne War memorial Museum.

82nd

and the The US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Museum

SF Museum

Guns shops and pawn shops everywhere. way to many to list.

If you want to LOOK go to Jims pawn on Yadkin Rd. and see a huge selection of guns, rent a machine gun at the indoor range. But at those prices don think of buying.

JIMS

Guns plus in Spring lake has an indoor range and is only about 12 miles north of FTCC on Bragg Blvd.

Food. what do you want, how much do you want to spend?
Just past the ASOM and train station is the downtown Fayetteville area of Hay street.
It is about 4-6 blocks of walking area with "trendy" shops and restaurants.
That means overpriced crap, but it is a pleasant, safe area to take the wife.

Over in the newer part of town are lots of local and chain restaurants, the malls the usual modern urban landscape.

Fayetteville Pie Company.

Is good for a lunch, but get there early they only make so many that morning for the day and they sell out quickly.

If you have some more specific questions let me know.

Funny thing, I dont live in Fayetteville.

Is it at the main campus or the Spring Lake campus? I like Fayetteville, its an Army town, so if you have had any time around them then you know what to expect. If you like Salsa dancing there is Studio 910 and Ramsey St.

Fayetteville is not the same as it was in the 80's. Back then it was a train station full of hookers and Hay St was nothing but strip bars. Most if not all of the areas YOU would associate with are family friendly and safe. I personally know several Cumberland County Deputies and Fayetteville PD Officers and they will tell you that most crime is located in certain areas.

We ate at 316 oyster bar, and food was great. The seafood was cooked perfectly, the poor corn though was kia from boiling for way too long.

Staff was great and whifey enjoyed her bday dinner

Thanks for those that helped!

Now to find a taquria for lunch,  looking at Taqueria las Delicias

Not sure how far it is from the community college but the German Diner on Reilly Road is legit.
