are there any good places to shoot out that way?? prefer an unofficial range that I can just blast away at. thanks guys

You can always try Desert Marksman, it's private and usually there's only people there on the weekends. www.dmrpc.org

thanks, that place looks pretty good so far. mapquest says its 50 minutes from my house... thats not too bad for some good unrestricted blasted, Im still open for more places??

It's always been that way, I don't think it's going to change anytime soon.

last I checked, A Place to Shoot was hit pretty hard by the torrential rains of jan/Feb. Francisquito Canyon road was washed out. Still being rebuilt, open only one lane for a few hours of escorted commuters each weekday.

ETA - just called them, they are open now, but to get to them from Santa Clarita you'll have to take Bouquet Canyon north into the mountains, cut across to Green Valley, then south on Francisquito to reach them. What a PITA. And their new Open days are Fri-Mon.
