I do not know, but I would guess that if it isn't on the NJSP website and it is post-ban, then go for it.

If it says G3 or HK91 on it it is illegal in New Jersey. If it doesn't say either of the two on it, it is legal. For example, Springfield Armory had a clone of a G3 a while back called the SAR8. That was legal in New Jersey.

I've read through lots of New York's firearms code, but hadn't looked at New Jersey before. Bummer, man.

A good place to start is www.state.nj.us/lps/njsp/about/fire_ag2.html . Then follow the link to Chapter 39 of the New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice, and read down a few pages.

There is a long list of forbidden "assault" weapons, and anything "substantially identical" is also illegal. Strangely,
the state police say that the Colt Match Target rifle is not "substantially identical" to an AR-15, and the Springfield M1A ("modified" in 1994) is not "substantially identical" to the M14S.

A Cetme G3 (pre or post ban) is listed on the assault weapons ban list in NJ. It's illegal.

The substantially identical clause was defeated in a criminal case NJ.  The state never appealed, presumably for fear of losing the entire ban.  This is why we have SAR1-3 and MAK90s...

And yes, I believe the CETME G3 is specifically banned.  I also thought the SAR8 was specifically banned?  I'll have to go refresh my memory...

The Springfield Armory SAR 48 is listed as illegal. Not the SAR 8.

I know you are correct about the above paragraph, but is there anything in writing on the web where I could read this?
To answer the original question, you can buy the Century G91 Sporter rifle ( g3 clone). I bought mine from the Brick Armory in Brick, He still has a couple on the shelf if your interested.

If it doesn't have the banned name on the receiver and it doesn't have the evil features, it is legal.

By the way, if you don't mind...how much?

I'll second that question!  How much does Brick want for the G91?

I believe they were priced at $599.00 I got mine NIB at the last July Valley Forge show for $399.99. I was lucky, the guy only had 2 and right as I bought mine another guy bought the other. Mine works fine right out of the box with my reloads. More accurate than my STG58A. Fit and finish are fine.
