When I travel through Anniston I like to stop at a surplus place called "The Outpost" west of town on old Hwy 202 near Bynum. Nice people, kinda small place but I have found some great stuff over the years past there. Good place to get field jackets, fatigues, etc. Lots of insulated underwear, hats, and so on. I have bought or seen surplus AR/M-16 mags, carbine mags, M92 holsters, alice packs, web belts, army manuals, books etc etc. They use to be the best place ANYWHERE to get ammo cans, I have bought them there for as little as $2, but last few times they have not had any. One time I bought a Canadian marked Thermold M16 mag for $5. They use to have a drum full of M-14 fiberglass stocks for like $15 each. They had Grand en-blocs last time I was there.
Don't get distracted by the glass case of cheap knives though. Definitely worth the stop in.

The Outpost has been a cool place for years. Been a while since I was there, but Mike's Army Surplus in Talladega is related to the Outpost, another true surplus joint, but again, years since my last visit. AA Surplus in Leeds is another good one.

Not sure about Gadsden...lemme as on of my popo friends.

My buddy says they all went away when FT Mac died.
