I have flown in or barnstormed about 250 airshows. I knew I arrived in life in 1998 in Niagara Falls, NY when I was seated at the head table next to the Commander of the Blue Angels as a fellow performer in that show at the Friday night pre-show banquet. Turns out he had an interview at Northwest Airlines for a fall class date during the mid-summer break and wanted the gouge on what to expect. I was a Captain on the DC9 in those days and it was a real honor to have my then teenage son get the first class treatment by the Blue's. I attended my first airshow at that same airport in the spring of 1974, back when the Blues were flying the A4 Skyhawks. I think it was a better show in those days, a bit more close in to the airports for the turn around's and a bit tighter on the timing. Still impressive to this day though. This was our show plane, I sold it in 2005 after my career ending neck injury.
