I'm trying to organize interest in "Appleseed" rifle events. We have bolt gun matches and black rifle matches, and wondering if there is an interest in the AQT/Rifleman style matches  promoted by "Fred"
at http://fredsm14stocks.com and the RWVA.org group.

Some shooters from clubs I frequent have traveled to NC to participate in these and wondering if we have any clubs here in CT that can accomodate an Appleseed course?

I'm not sure of available ranges but, would be thrilled to participate if it could be put together.

Timed fire events at "AQT" (army qual. targets) using battle rifles. Originally conceived by "Fred" of www.fredsm14stocks.com and the www.rwva.org of Riverside Gun Club near Rameseur, North Carolina.

Many of the shooters at the Riverside club are M-1A shooters, but any iron sight centerfire rifle will do.

The idea is to attain real marksmanship skills and practice the fundamentals of Rifle Shooting

I heard today that the idea has been raised among Hartford Gun Club rifleshooters.

I am a member there, so I will find out and check back with updates

Sounds like a great idea. Thanks to raf for the link. I would be willing to attend and even help out as much as possible with such an event. Perhaps we could coordinate a bulk ammo purchase with a pre-registration scenario. In any event it looks like an idea well worth pursuing.

Steve, we have an Appleseed Shoot in the works for Vermont. You're obviously welcome to join us. I'd also LOVE to see one further down in New England or New York, and am looking forward to going to one there as well.

Vermont is in the works for later this year. The only issues left are where and when. Fred and I are working on a decent range, capable of 500 yard fire. Those facilities are rare in New England. If that facility falls through, we have a back-up plan and will go with it.

When details are more firm, I will post them here.

Good point on camping info. I'll also figure something not too awful far from the range facility for camping.

I'm interested and a campground near by would make it even better.
