Are you saying that Wayne County is able to get a response on your fingerprints that fast?

Hamilton County sends them electronically, and it still takes anywhere from 3 to 21 days.

Yea!! I have to go through it every 3 years for fireworks and they have been good at getting it back. Heck this spring when I got mine done they told me that it would be ready the next morning before I left.

I got fingerprinted, and was issued my renewal on the spot.  The Sheriff's Officer explained that it takes time to tether your permit to you motor vehicle(s).  My friend went to Summit Co for his renewal three weeks ago, and still hasn't received his permit.  I sometimes wonder if the long wait times are intentional.

Born and raised in Wayne county. I got my permit last year roughly. I went in on a Friday and came back Monday to pick it up.
Link Posted: 9/9/2013 5:45:51 PM EST
Wayne county a little over a year ago, took 24hrs. Probably would've been less if I was available earlier.

One week to schedule appointment, less than 24 hours to receive license in Franklin County. The girls who work at the office were friendly and had great senses of humor making the whole process a pleasure. I would highly recommend residents and neighbors go through Franklin County.

I received mine about a week after providing docs to the local (Portage) sheriff's dept.  Overall, I'd say the process is relatively painless, at least in my neck of the woods.

My application time in mahoning county was about 16 hours. I dropped it off at 3:30 with all the paperwork on a Wednesday and they called thurs morning at 8:05 saying it was ready to pick up. I've have number pics governmental background checks because of the work I do and wasn't an issue as I was already in the system.

Went to Wayne county this morning for my renewal.
Tried to give the Deputy my SASE to mail my license, and she said "Oh, I don't need that. Since you're a renewal you will leave with your new license."
Three minutes later I was out the door with my new CHL in hand.

Got mine in brown county in Feb of 2013, took 5 days. Filled it out monday and had it Friday. They did know I was on leave from AD, so they might have expedited the process a tad, I never asked.

I didnt want to wait for an appointment so I decided to just walk-in in Montgomery County today to apply for a new license. I'll post back when I get it, hopefully not the 45+ days I have read about
Link Posted: 3/18/2014 2:34:51 PM EST
Well I just got the call! I will be stopping by on my way home from work to pickup my permit!

That was fast!  I applied on 6 Mar for my permit in Greene county and they gave the 45 day number, so I'm waiting patiently for mine, (Greene county require a SASE for mailing the permit to the applicant).

Yeah I was not expecting that for Montgomery... everywhere I read was 40+ days.. Not sure if it helped but I typed out my form in all caps and big bold consistent type... hopefully when my wife applies she will get hers just as fast!

Hmmm would be nice if it was mailed here too!

I keep hoping it will be faster than 45 days.  I'll post to this thread once I receive mine.

As a Summit County resident, from what I read here, I should head down to Wayne County if I don't feel like waiting a month?

I applied 6 Mar in Greene county and received my permit on 25 Mar.  So it took 19 days.  This is for an original (not a renewal) and not sure if it makes any difference or not (other than the increased application fee), but have lived in OH less than 5 years.

Applied Tuesday morning at Montgomery County, walk-in, pictures, e-fingerprint, less than 5-year Ohio resident.  Took all of 10 mins  and picked it up today.

Way to go Montgomery County.

I live in Greene....heard it took forever....

Applied January 14  at Lorain County SO and picked up my permit in three weeks on the dot. However I lived in Allen County for a few years while attending school. They had my fingerprinting done the next day  but apparently Allen County took Two and a half weeks to get my background check cleared.
Link Posted: 4/8/2014 8:25:43 AM EST
Montgomery county, 2,maybe 3 days.  I went there as I heard Greene co was pretty much 45 days for certain

Tuscarawas County New License: Applied 6/2 & Called 6/10.  I won't complain about 8 days after waiting the full 60 and then some in Virginia in 2012.
Link Posted: 6/19/2014 9:53:46 PM EST
Mine took about 18 hours to get back from Montgomery county.
Link Posted: 8/1/2014 4:51:56 AM EST
First time, applied 7/29.  Said 1-45 days, most likely 1 if never been arrested.  I've never been.

Awaiting call....

Franklin County
On Friday, I made an appointment for the following Tuesday.
Wednesday (the next day) I got the call saying my permit is ready.

Took almost 4 weeks to the day for mine in Madison County.  I believe that was because I had just moved back from California within the last year.

Licking Co, Ohio.

It took two weeks from turning in paper work to the local sheriff to pick my license up.
Link Posted: 9/6/2014 4:01:41 PM EST
Lucas Co. resident, went to Wood for mine about 3 1/2 years ago, since Lucas was fairly slow at the time. Turned in my application in the afternoon, got a call back in the late morning of the 2nd day after that, picked it up on the 3rd day. So <2 days for approval and 3 days total to get my license.

My co-worker and her husband went to Montgomery Co. for their renewals last week and got the call the next day.
Link Posted: 10/14/2014 6:59:12 PM EST
Belmont County Here.

I submitted it on a Monday, got the call on Tuesday and picked it up Wednesday only because I was working when it was ready.

So...basically mine was good to go the next day.

Got mine today, 14 total days... not bad since I had to do the FBI background and they called the counties where I have been stationed the last 10 years.

Warren county applied last May and got my CCW 2 days later in my mailbox..Even had to do the FBI check since I hadn't lived in Ohio for 5 years.

Delaware County, renewed on Monday was in the mailbox Friday.

Franklin took about 10 days when I applied the 1st time and i had to go pick it up.  Delaware County is a much nicer experience all around even though it was a further drive for me.

Richland county.

Applied on 4/18, picked up on 5/29.

However I had a few expunged cases on my record and a couple DCMM convictions.

On the other hand my friend with clean record applied on 4/19 picked up 4/21.

Wood Co.
Applied 10/20/15. picked up on 10/30/15.

Lived in Ohio less than 5 years. May have taken longer because of that.  Wen't very well. Sheriff was friendly and had an overall great experience. Currently a Lucas CO resident.

Mine took slightly less than three weeks in Montgomery County, issued 9/21/15.

Edit- Not sure if it made a difference, but at time of application I had a lifetime Indiana resident license and had recently become an OH resident only a few weeks before applying.

OH resident for 15+ yrs, applied 12/17 got permit in the mail in one week, 12/24.

I went to Lorain county sheriff's office, they had a reputation for being very slow but they hired someone specifically for ccw apps bc they were losing apps to Erie county. I went in on a Sunday afternoon and picked up my license less than 48 hrs later on Tuesday. Super friendly staff and very fast. Same results for six others I know that did theirs at Lorain, less than 48 hrs.
