Applied in Hamilton County on Monday, picked up permit the following week on  Tuesday in mid-November 2008.  Hamilton County is now in a budget crisis and the Sheriff's office is hardest hit.  This function of the office may now be affected as well, slowing down the process, I'm not sure what the CCW situation is now.

I went to Stark County.  Turned in my paperwork on a Thursday and recieved a letter in the mail 2 Saturdays later saying my permit was ready for pickup, they had been unable to contact me by phone.  I called them on Monday to set up an appointment to pick it up.  The next available appointment they had was that friday.  So, 22 days from drop off to pick up.

Turned in application on 4/7/09 - Had to return the next day and redo the fingerprints since they said they didn't get a good enough read on the electronic scanner. Plus had to update my current home address with the DMV for em to process it.

Got a call today (4/21/09) around 1:40PM saying it was ready. So 8-9 business days. The lady at the Lucas CO. Sheriffs desk for ccw permits had a huge stack of other peoples permits too.

All of the sheriffs I dealt with during the process were very nice except the one who actually took my app etc. She seems grumpy... Probably because everyone and their brother are applying & she now has to actually work!

Crap.  I've been procrastinating, mine expires 3/1 and I'm going in for renewal tomorrow.  Hopefully OFCC is right in their FAQ that the licenses are still valid for 30 days past expiration (I'm going to ask).

Went to class (Mike and Ronda Halcomb's class out of Middletown Chamber of Commerce...VERY GOOD) on Saturday.

Called around to Sheriff's offices (Warren is home and surrounding)...most were walk-in and Warren said July 6.  Finally, called Clinton County, talked to Lt. Fizer and he said come on in the next afternoon (Tuesday).

Picked up my CCW today (FRIDAY).

Got to say I am very happy with the speed of getting it.  The backstory is that we are moving to WA and doing a roadtrip to get there...this kicked me into gear to actually get the CCW.  Was really worried that I wouldn't get it in time but it seems like Clinton County is the ticket for any of us that live there or in adjacent counties.

In May of 2006 i went to Columbiana county.
1. went to county courthouse to turn in my forms
2. one week later went to sherrif dept to get printed/photographed
3. one week after that went back to sherrif dept to pick up license

In April of 2010 went to renew at Wayne county(since i moved from columbiana county)
1. Took original documentation of passed courses and current permit to sherrif dept
was photograped. I received my permit by mail ONE day later!  It was awesome, all i had to do is bring
self addressed stamped envelope and deputy handling the permit was very nice and helpful.

Newbie here, so I just thought I would share experience.
