Well we knew it would happen.
The evacuees are now mad and saying they are going to refuse to leave the GRB convention center.
They are talking about moving these people due to the Rita issue.
The evacuees are now saying that we (houstonians I assume) are just trying to get rid of them.
This is not true, but they must have been reading my mind.

It is true.

I don't even live in Houston anymore and I want them to leave.

Bitch, piss, and moan, talk shit about the President, blah, blah, blah. Same old tired shit.

Dallas has gotten rid of all but a handful. We didn't have the sheer number of people that Houston did/does. By the morning of the 2nd day, many of the evacuees were either taken in by family or friends, or actively set out to find jobs and places to live...this was before any of the federal aid was available.

The Mayor also gave a definate deadline as to when all of the evacuees would be out of Reunion and the Dallas Convention Center. This was done to limit the strain on what limited resources(volunteers, materials, money) that the City of Dallas could provide. We had an additonal day, as opposed to Houston, to make definate written plans...and we did have a tornado disaster plan outline that was used as a guide.

There were a few that tried to go through the line twice or send a family member and get additional debit cards. As far as we could tell everyone that was supposed to get one got it, and noone was able to go through twice. As for hindsight, maybe the debit cars should stay at $2000, but limit it to $300 or $500 a week. The cars were intended to help with relocation expenses and necessities, not luxury or trivial items nor were they intended to cover all living or relocation expenses.

If things turn for the worse, if you need us, Dallas will help.
