the association of New Jersey rifle and pistol clubs is starting a 50 cal shooters program. this is listed in the new news letter (vol 18 number 2 mar/apr 2006) they are going to sponsor shooting events and defend the rights of .50 cal shooters. the venue is Cherry Ridge. the date for the program development is March 18 you can contact them at [email protected]

this is great for .50 shooters in NJ. i will be there from the ground up.

Let me start by saying i am 100% for "50cal shooters rights".

That being said, i dont see the appeal.  As far as i know NJ has a single range that is 600yards (about the minimum i would want to bother with a 50cal).    NY has 1 Range to 1000 yards that does not allow 50 cal.

So that leaves the 300yd ranges...

i dont know.  50cal for 300yds?  a little overkill dont ya think?

I think if someone wants to "help the 50 cal shooters"  they should look into developing ranges with adequate distance and safe berm.

That is nice and all.  But there is one guy I know who will may not be allowed to shoot his 50cal there.  He was a life member of Cherry Ridge.  He had his 50cal set up on the 200/300yd line.  One member of the board of directors saw his set up had a cow and pretty much said he could not shoot his rifle there, because he did not like the image it was portraying.  There was a meeting about this and a new rule was made and the guy was not even given a chance to discuss the issue with them.  The guy who I am talking about is a member here on AR15.com maybe he can give us some more info.

ANJRPC is under new Management - President Scott Bach. If it was reported in recent news letter Matt, then I would say .50s are good to go. All .50s MAY not be equal and this IS a valid question as to whether a tripod .50, (sorry I forget the Model - MA DEUCE?) is OK at this time.

Hi All
Hi Matt I am thinking of going but am afraid of getting very upset all over again!
I was at Fort Dix last sat and had a good time but it’s almost a 3 hr ride one way!
Maybe new heads will hear me out!
And maybe a demo would do some good?

Very close but I felt it was the image they feared! I was told that I had no control of the gun swinging on the tripod but I always use the T&E so that dos not fly and it could runway witch this gun can not do! It’s Semi only

. [ But there is one guy I know who will not be allowed]
I don’t think you rely know this or I should say hope not and think I will go SAT. And see!
Tanks for thinking of me and I am glad you all brought this to my attention!
Beny  Pleas pardun the spelling.

I hope they let you shoot your 50cal up there.  I was worried about the tripod rule.

Very close but I felt it was the image they feared!

Thank you for correcting me.

Matt

ETA: If they are worried about it not being stable maybe you shold bring the M8 up there and mount it on that.

Is the weather going to be a factor. I know 40 isn't to bad but they said something about snow and very windy. I remember from the Carlos Match about the wind...

Also shooting a 50 at 300yds is just has good has good if you shoot at reduced targets. Then you can always go to PA and shoot at 1000yds in WIlliamsport. Texas at Tiger Valley and to PASA park in IL. Then there is always the Great Lakes region where they have 50 cal shoots.
I do think anything below 300 is a waste of ammo. Although I do shoot at 200 yds since that is has far as I can get. Except on Sundays at Calverton when he opens the range past 200yds.

hellfire76,

you only need to be a member if you are going to shot. Or purchase a guest pass $20 (entire day) accompanied by a member.

What is a T&E?

Do I have to sign up for this thing or can I just show up there?  I am currently a member, BTW.

Hi
T&E?
It is a mechanical divvies used to control Traversing & Elevating of the gun!
One click up or one click to the left!
The gun is mounted at two hard points one front and one at the back,
The front is a pivot point and the back has the T&E for aiming control!

Just got the latest copy of SGN in the mail today (March 20, 2006/Newsstand April 3, 2006) and I thought that an ad I found might be of interest to some of you .50 shooters. Mitchell's Mausers, known for their Historical K98/M48 8mm Mauser rifles (I own one and it's as beautiful as it is accurate.), is having a sale on their .50 BMG Premium Performance ammunition. They load 700gr FMJBT in Boxer primed, virgin brass cases. They normally sell for $35.00 per 10 round box but are now on sale for $19.50/box. The sale ends May 9, 2006 and I couldn't find it mentioned on their website but the text noted to mention the ad in SGN when ordering.

I don't work for Mitchell nor have I ever bought/used any of their .50 BMG ammo, I just thought it might be worth mentioning to you all. Anyway, take care and be well.

***Just in case; SGN = The Shotgun News - A dealers/collectors newspaper with lots of wholesale/retail ads and some pretty decent articles. I've had a subscription for as long I can remember.

Edited to add: Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your Dad, EDPMedic!

Well if anyone went hope it was good.

Getting ready to go back to Hospital...Some Improvement, but if his BUN and Creatine levels don't go down. The Dialysis is going to be started.

Thanks guys...I got back a couple hrs. If his levels are not down by Tomorrow they start the big "D" on him... Dialysis

This all started Monday with a broken shoulder. Calls me at home. I was reloading 9mm.
Unable to understand what happened so I run over there.
He is lying on the floor and I thought was a Dislocated Shoulder.
Turns out that he also Fractured the Shoulder where the Clavicle meets the shoulder and Joint.
Get him to Hospital by Amb and is given CT and all the good stuff. Is put in a sling and sent home.

Tuesday. Take him to Orto Dr and he says been sick all night and throwing up. Say I want to take him back to Hospital. Who knows could be a concussion or Subdural bleed. He hit his head and messed his left orbit up also. Refuses t go so I take him home and leave him with my mom.

Wed. Mom says been throwing up all day but refuses to go to Hospital. So she finally gets him to the Doctor instead. He puts him into Hospital because he is throwing up blood. Mom calls me that night to tell me he is in Hospital going into ICU. Turns out he has a bleeding ULCER....Unrelated to fall.

Problem is he has Kidney Disease to start with and had Prostate CA. which he was seeded for. (in Remission). But since he dehydrated himself he Fucked his kidneys up more then they were. So he refuses to do the big "D" and rather die. Which is not going to happen while I am around. He looks much better today and was sitting up. Even had some fluids orally so maybe things are getting better.

Hi therre .50 cal shooters, I like to get a .50 but can't decide between .50 Beuwolf carbine and .50 AE desert eagle pistol. The real deal .50 cal was temporary out of selection because of limited shooting ranges. I have a pistol purchase permit that is due to expire soon and lots of AR lowers for .50B caribne conversion.

everyone should have a .50 beowulf, buy it, you will not regret it! i cannot speak about the .50 desert eagle but, i do have the desert eagle in .44mag, they need to be rebuilt (spring tune-up kit) every 5000 rounds or 3 years.   allthough it is not a.50 caliber or semi auto the s&w 460 is more versatile, most likely a better choice for a big hand gun.
