This story is a wakeup call. A couple of Meth heads in a small town executed an old man that lived nearby and stole his credit cards and his car. I guess they ran out of cash and didn’t have a car so decided they would just take it from a neighbor down the road. Yet another reason not to live within walking distance of druggies. Welcome to small town rural Oregon where everybody is a target and you can be murdered for your car keys. This happened just two days before Christmas. www.newsregister.com/news/story.cfm?story_no=202405 |

I just want to warn everyone...... " DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BREAK INTO TANGOFOXTROTS HOUSE!"
you will die.... That is all. |
Ya, it's a shitty thing, but it's not the 1st time it's happened....and you know it won't be the last.
And they say we don't need guns.......pfffft..... |
No matter how much you "prepare" would you ever be REALLY ready?
My dog will and is the first line of defense, more or less the alarm. Her amount of protectivness over the home and my family is at times an annoyance, but a reassuring one at that. Middle of the night, a deer walks down the street and she comes un-glued. Kind of nice to have that early warning to speak of. Dog barks, now I go for my new 1911 |
I used to have a German Shepard like that. She would go absolutely nuts with rage like she wanted to tear something or someone apart. Several times just as I made it outside to have a look around, maybe 30 seconds later, an engine would start up down the road just out of sight. Sometimes they would peel out. No doubt someone was up to no good but didn’t want to take on a full grown German Shepard. |
It’s not a matter of caliber. It’s about being surprised by a burglar/robber/murderer/methhead, or not. |
Normally an AR if I pick up a rifle. Usually I just go with a Glock with a light. It's easier to open doors that way.
I have perimeter automatic lighting now and that seems to keep out the riff raft. I also have a retired neighbor on the hill above that likes to shoot. I think it helps keep the bad guys out of the area. At least the smart ones. About a mile away is a bad area where houses get hit hard, dogs shot during burglaries, and people so scared they sleep with guns under their pillows. If you ever come home to find a large moving truck in your driveway, back off. That could be the burglary gang that shoots dogs and will probably shoot you if you catch them in the act. |
If I find that, I'm going in guns blazin......the more I shoot the more I reliase how little everyone else knows how to shoot well.
That is why we have a "Remove your carbine from your trunk and make ready" stage at PR. The wife would be calling 911 while I was stalking dead men. |
That's why I'm looking for a 16" middy to stick in the trunk!
You got one.....it says " Made in Bulgaria " on the side....

That fucker is sitting on my desk as a reminder of how a simple piec of plastic can ruin your day! Kinda like a condom. .045 cents to make and cost you millions if it fails! |

That Sunday, after I hugged my wife and son when I got home, I marched out to the bench grinder and quickly removed the damn ears off of that thing. Slick now |

I didn't have a problem. Although I'm sure my AK's 3-times bigger ejection port helped. |

Geez - what 'hood are you living in TF? |

I'm in what law enforcement calls the golden triangle. It’s a rural area bordering the hills west of Portland. It’s known for windy roads and short walks to the mailbox, which you can’t always see from the house. Lots of people get mail stolen, mailboxes smashed, etc. You can’t always see what’s going on down the street at your neighbors. Criminals from Portland find it a nice drive to come out here for burgleries. In other words, my hood is the countryside. Lots of people move out here with the idea they are getting away from the bad aspects of Portland. Then they find out from their kids the schools here have more drugs and druggies than the city. With fewer activities than they have in the city, kids here get into drugs early and make it their lifestyle. You heard it here first, drugs are a much bigger problem in rural public schools than in the city. Moving to the countryside increases the kids exposure to drugs. It's also one of the reasons there are so many private schools in this area. No one who can avoid it lets their kids go to public school unless they just moved here and don't know any better. That's life west of Portland, all the way to the coast. I so want to move where there are fewer people and no commuter traffic rushing by all day. That was here up until about 10-20 years ago. |

Your welcome to move up here to Hood RIver. THe house accross from us is empty! |

Due to their excessive meth use...<---meth mouth |

I need to be in the mountains. So far away that Portlanders consider it too far. I prefer southern oregon. I need to buy a mountain |

ok whats the differance between a crank addit and a heroin addit ?
a herion addit will steal from you. a crank addit will steal from you and help you look for it. a simular story a elderly freind of my boss in his early 80s who was a asleep in his bed with his wife they live just outside a city. he was awoke by the sound of steps coming up his stairs who knows what would have happend to him and his wife if it had not been for his revolver in his night stand he fired a few shot in the general direction and heard some one high tailing it down the stairs and out of his house. he didnt have enough time to call the cops and by the time they would have got there he and his wife would have been beat to a pulp . |
As a cop once told me:
"It's not really our job to save you. Our job is to catch the guy who just killed you." Obviously I'm paraphrasing quite a bit, but in essence it's true. |
i rememmber a officer told my step mother how to legally kill a prowler back when i was a teen my step
mother had a prowler and she told the cop she pointed her gun at him and he left and the cop encouraged her to do that and to make sure if she did shoot him to kill him to prevent a law suite and to make sure he was in the house even if she had to drag him through the window he was looking into. but that was back in the day im sure they dont do that now. oh btw southern oregon is not much better alot of meth is coming coming from places like roseburg |
There is another one that fits into this discussion... how's that quote go? "When seconds count, we're just minutes away." |
Ooo, I like that one better. Overall, same idea. |
They do differant things for different people, "different strokes for different folks", for me they pick up the pieces of what's left of the basterds after I open the door with my AK! |

ugg i need to sleep... anyway
Siglining that one... that was the funney moment of the night for me thanks man... i'm not going to get into the shit my Crack head stepsister stole from me and that whole fiascio.. just remember the crimenals know the law.. probably better then all of us... they will use that knowledge agenst us even if their in the wroung... I know this stuff first hand unfornintaly.. so if your going to do something to a prowler or robber.. make sure your not braking the law.. and if theres anything that might be sueable.. kill them and make it look legit.. espessally meth heads.. most meth heads have completely alenated their famleys and their freinds are just like them... i wish i chould personally kill bare handed the person who brought this stuff into exsistence.. |
you can thank Hitler for it he started to develop meth to create super soilders that could keep fighting without sleep. |

Flame Thrower? Geerhed - I don't know about your first 555 posts, but 556 was awesome! |

While I didn't have a real problem with the flag I did the same thing the next day. |

Glock, schmock. Mossberg 590A1, 8 rounds 00 buck in the tube, 1 in the chamber. YOU DON'T HAVE TO OPEN DOORS THAT WAY.... |
THey do make pepperspray dispensers that can be tied to your alarm or a panic button. You intstall them in the eve above the front or back door, or any window etc. When activated it lets fly a wall of spray much like that of a halon system in a kitchen. You could theroretically set it up to let that wall of spray come down on all sides of the house at once. Man the BATF would hate that huh during a raid huh... I mean errr.. I ment burglars/meth heads.

I fully agree and have the same setup at home. If my dogs start barking at night, I reach for my Glock. |

FWIW I work in Willamina, just down the road,a few miles from Sheridan and in either town you'd be pretty hard pressed not to be within walking distance of crank heads. I'v never seen anything like it in all the small towns I'v lived in. The local kids call Willamina-"Willametha". Friends that have served on the grand jury have told me the entire time they heard nothing but meth, meth lab, child endangerment ,etc, cases. Those two particular pieces of scum I'v seen on the street driving thru. I lived on Rock Creek Rd for a few months when I first moved up here, that was enough. I'v since (10 yrs) been doing a 60 mile drive round trip to work. Its worth it not to have to live there. Funny crank head story-IMO. I got stopped driving thru Sheridan for a burn't out tail light. No big deal but in the middle of the stop a wire head came out of a bar across the street and evidently mistaking me for someone else, started screaming that "I was dead meat" and "he was going to take me out for ripping him off",and on and on. As I'd given the LEO my CHL and told him that I usually carry either a 357 or 45,he wrote all of it down and asked me if I felt my life was in danger from this guy. I said I don't know him but as he thinks he knows me,if he ever approached me I would take "appropriate measures". He then informed the tweak that as he'd made death threats, that if I was to shoot him at a later time for whatever reason it would be considered justified and the end of the case. A month or so later I pulled up on a side street to drop off a co-worker and theres this idiot walking down the sidewalk right next to my rig and he turns and sees me. He just froze in his tracks, turned "a whiter shade of pale" and he was GONE! Probably set a new record for the 1 mile sprint. Not too long after that he was killed in a car wreck,(drugs and alcohol involved) tried to make a hairpin curve at a high rate of speed. May have thought I was behind him? Pity for his family but.... |

i got to meet my first true meth heads on christmas night. it was lovely.
we decided to go down to see the big tree in downtown portland, and some other stuff. anyways, we were out looking at the neat store window displays, and there were two crackheads sitting on the street beggin for crap. young bums, early on the street, not like the grizzled vets i'm used to being harassed by. the one has this freakish tatoo on his face... wierd. anyways, we were standing there and this hophead came up and starting telling us a story about how he put glass under a relatives' tire and caused a car wreck or something, with the elegance of a longshoreman. crazy shit! oh yeah, and how's this. we were walking back towards the motorized vehicle, and i'm like "let's go across the street" and my aunt's like "why?" and i'm like "because i don't trust those stupid tweakers" and she's like "oh, they're not going to do anything". then she starts going on about how they've gotten more violent lately, at which i figure that's a good reason just to avoid them (i mean, we had to cross the street anyways, why not early?). then she goes on about how "they've been cracking down hard on bums/tweaker violence, so they're not going to do anything. they don't want to get put in jail (or something like that". i flat out told her that's retarded, because it's not going to deter anyone in the least, but apparently she thought it made us safe. so, we walked by the bums, and i didn't take my eyes off of them until we got back to the car. i mean, what the hell? the cops are cracking down on tweakers so they won't accost anyone?? thpthpthpt dammit! tweakers and bums! arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! |
Hmm. Doubtful. Tweakers are a virus on polite society. In this case, gravity was the cure. |
