Its the sudden price jump of 2 bucks in 24 hrs that pissed me off. They get bought out and now the company wants to pass on the buy-out onto the consumer.

Dude, the leveraged buy out was in 1981.

Not that it matters to Me beacuse I never shop at Shitbird-Mart but it sounds like it is the store not Winchester thats doing this. In fact I have heard several times in the ammo fourm that China-Mart is 86ing the vaule packs

Yeah...the price jump on the shelf at a store is the fault of a manufacturer....

Well the big price increase is good news for the mom and pops. They may be able to match or even be cheaper.

If what I read can be recalled correctly - Winchester doesn't make their own ammo - they licensed the name to Olin (previously of DuPont).

Also, the .22LR lines (like DynaPoint, X-pert, etc...) saw a supply problem when they moved their rimfire plant to Mississippi.

Not quite.

Oliver Winchester founded Winchester Repeating Arms in 1866 when he bought the assets of Volcanic Repeating Arms.  Olin purchased Winchester in 1931.  In 1981 a group of Olin Employees bought Olin-Winchesters gun division in a leveraged buyout naming it US Repeating Arms Company (USRAC) and licensed the Winchester name from Olin.  USRAC was bought by a group including FN in 1987, FN becoming the sole owner in 1990 and FN in turn being bought by GIAT in 1992.

Olin owns the Winchester name.

Olin hasn't been involved with making firearms since 1981, they manufacturer ammuntion and Olin Winchester is not involved with USRACs closing of their New Haven manufacturing facility.

Just to add, USRAC's liscensing deal with Olins to use the Winchester name ends in 2007.
