I too, appreciate the information. I don't vote along party lines, I vote for those who support issues that I support. It's good to have information like this at hand.

This really backs up what I have said about the ORP in the past:

They have a critical disconnect with many of their target core constituents in Ohio.

Its really sad, too, because it really shouldn't be THAT bloody hard to understand. If the ORP could find some candidates who would actually support out rights, they would have rabid support from us. Instead, they run these wishy-washy psudo-Republicans, many if which aren't even good RINOs. Taft could have run as a Democrat in many other states and would have done well.

I shouldn't be having to weigh my gun rights against having a Republican Governor or Attorney General or any other office in the state. Those concepts should go hand-in-hand. The ORP should be able to trash Fisher without hoping someone does research into THEIR record on the subject.

Thanks for the article and thinks to you and BFA for your continued work on out behalf.

Can this article and a link to this discussion be sent to the ORP? I really think they need to see both, if they really want to know how Conservatives in Ohio think and why they are having trouble supporting the ORP.

Guess I need to get more involved in the ORP then.

Maybe we'll see a overturn of the 31rd mag law too.

Ohio has a reputation of poor politics. Vonivich and Taft both had poor ratings as Governor, both got elected twice and Vonivich 2x again as Senator. I haevn't decided which way to go..

Yep!

Thannks, Knight! a very good read.

My folks up in Ohio have Steve LaTourette as their Congressman...he's been sitting on his ***, laying low in the weeds. Speak out, Steve!

Yesterday he introduced a bill banning asian carp in Lake Erie....with all that's going on....a carp bill is the best he can do? C'mon!

Not a small deal if you knew the scope of the asian carp problem.  The north coast gets a metric shat ton (billions) of fishing tourism dollar.  You should see all the out of state license plates in the boat ramp parking lots.  The asian carp will severely impact the fishery thus reducing/eliminating the fishing tourism.    This will affect all the great lake states, but will hit Ohio the hardest as Erie is the best sport fishery.  Erie will also be the best habitat for the asian carp to survive due to the shallower warmer waters.

Whatever.

Who cares if Strickland will overturn the 30 round mag rule?  What are his plans to bring jobs to Ohio?  Where does he stand on issues like Socialized medicine and the tax breaks?

I'd settle for a permanent re-instatement of the 94 AWB if all the socialists in this country would leave.  These psychos are ruining this country, and all people care about is whether the candidate is pro-2A?  Fat lot of good being pro 2A does if inflation makes the price of guns go through the roof or you can't use a weapon to defend yourself without going to prison.

Ok lets put guns asiide here for one second......................The problem is that the asshole running against Strickland is a RINO which is no better if not worse than your typical liberal KaliFornia democrat.  Throw in the gun issue and that makes my decision easy.................Strickland

Kaschie (or however you spell his name) is another POS Taft and Vonivich who will flip flop and "compromise" whatever he is preaching about now.  At least with Strickland you know where he stands on many issues and although I disagree with most of them, he is better than haveing another Taft or Vonivich.

Think about this for a second...

Imagine in the 2012 presidential election we have a Florida redux in Ohio.  The future of the rests on who wins the Ohio electoral votes.  Would you rather have a Republican governor or a Democratic governor?

I see your point but the fact is Im sick of the Ohio republican party putting up these Bob Taft RINO's every election year.  To anserw your question I would rather have the Pro gun Democratc govenor.

If the Republicans were concerned with the outcome of the 2012 elections, they should run a conservative pro-gun person.  I am sick of holding my nose and voting for a POS RINO just to play politics and "look at the big picture".

The democrats have carried the water for the CCW and gun owners in Ohio.  In this bizzaro world of Ohio politics, the democrats are more conservative than the republicans.

gunsho11b nails it.

I agree. The Ohio Republican Party has screwed themselves in selecting Kasich.

Pro 2A voters would like to go along with a platform of conservative values and fiscal responsibility, but not at the expense of true support for the second amendment.

I,and many other Ohio Republicans, would like a REAL CONSERVATIVE and a damn Republican candidate who will DEFEND our damn 2nd amentment rights, not some bullshit RINO who will (rightfully) give Republicans a bad name for years to come.

Taft was a damn joke and a bad one at that.

It seems that we're not asking for all that much, but I'll be damned if the ORP can get their collective heads out of their asses out of their asses long enough to see the obvious.

As distasteful as find Strickland, at least I know what I'm getting and he's actually being more honest that the clown  the ORP is running.

a hell of a lot of republicans in the legislature are pro-gun, and were pivitol in getting the reforms we have now.  It was a republican house and senate that led a successful overide of bob taft on the state premption bill, HB347.  John Husted and Bill Harris were pivotal in this, it was the first overide of a governor in 30 years.

http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/3417
http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/3432

getting a pro-gun legislature is key, in which case the governor is not that important if you can override him.  the republicans weren't afraid to override a republican governor..

as for strickland, he's kinda bizzare i think because he's basically a socialist on every issue, except for guns.  but when you look back, he ran for congress numerous times in his appalachian district, before figuring out he had to be pro-gun to win elections..     i don't trust the guy, and when it comes to the mainline issue of economy/jobs we can't afford any more of him...

Gun control is a dead issue right now.  Again, I'd take a reinstatement of the 94 AWB if it meant the death of all these senseless social programs, and some jobs were brought to Ohio.
