I will be in town for a few days and would greatly appreciate a few recommendations for good places to eat.  I am willing to drive for an hour or so if the food is outstanding.
Thanks guys

Salt Rock Grill on Indian Rocks Beach would be one. It's one of the Nicest places on the beach.

E&Es Steakout Grill is also a good choice.

Casual on Clearwater Beack.. Rockaway Cafe (or Grill??) on N. Mandalay.

On St. Pete Beach there is of course The Don Caesar.. Sunday Brunch is supposed to be the greatest.

There are a bunch or restaurants in Tampa but I never ventured over there much.

Hope this helps.

Sam Seltzers IS good!!!!  There is another place I just thought of...Brewmasters. It's right next to Jimmy Iguanas at the Holiday Inn, right up from Crabby Bills. Excellent prime rib and free beer during your meal. Nicely priced too!!!

There is a sports bar right up from Crabby Bills too. The Blue Marlin I think it's called. Very good surf and turf platter there.

Pepin's in St Pete, order Paella and Sangria

Dockside Dave's in John's Pass (Maderia Beach) has the best Grouper Sandwiches in the area adn you can walk around the boardwalk after you eat.

Snapper's in St Pete Beach is owned by some folks we know.  Awesome seafood and a realaly nice atmosphere - like the SaltRock but not on the water.

Frenchy's in Clw Beach - original for the taste, Rockaway on the Beach for the Sunsets - get the Grouper Burger (Fried or Buffalo)

Salt Rock Grill is where everyone takes their OOT guests and clients or for special occasions - get the king crab legs

Island Way Grill - owned by Mike Alstott and Dave Moore of the Bucs and the Salt Rock guys - Order anything, esp the seafood app sampler tower thing -  I like the food better than SaltRock.

Bern's in Tampa - do the dessert room, it's legendary.  This is the big money place in the area.

Charlie's Steakhouse Tampa - I like the meat better than Bern's (that's considered sacriledge, but hey)

Columbia Restaurant in Ybor and on Sand Key (and in Sarasota - St Armand's) more for the traditional cuban atmosphere than anything else.

E&E Steakout Grill and Bonefish Grill in Bellaire Bluffs (near Clw Beach) we walk to these two from my home.  Both great food.  Bonefish is the new Outback highend chain.  I "think" this was the first one.

Four Green Fields in Tampa - my favorite lunch and happy hour spot, but then, I'm an Irish Bar afficianado.  The food is awesome, especially for a pub.  It is one of the only authentic thatch-roofed buildings in the States.  They get the Chieftains here every St Patty's Day as well.

We eat out a lot.

Didn't Dockside Dave's move out of John's Pass??

Wahoo's down the street has good grouper too.

For breakfast I like Tyrone Family. Best bisquits and gravy and the actually have hashbrowns.

Dave's was a block or two north of the Pass in (what was) a marina but moved this past year right behind the boardwalk, like across the street from Sculley's.  They are opening a 2nd place in St Pete Beach (or it may be TI, I forget where I saw it).

Greek in Tarpon Springs. I like the place on the southside near the middlw, forget the name.

Thirsty Marlin in Palm Harbor is good, esp the she-crab soup. The Ozona Pig is good BBQ in Ozona.
