I need to buy a handgun now. I turned 21 a month ago and I still don't have a sidearm. I'm lookin for a 4" Bi-tone XD9 (next to impossible to find), Sig Sauer P229/239, or a Kimber or SA 1911 if the price is right. Time to get armed so I can take my CHL.

BWT, whats the status on the monthly dinner?

Would it be better to wait for Gunstock? Will there be any handguns for sale there that are worthwhile and discounted?

The next show is at Will Rogers, Sept 13-14.

What city are you in? I might be able to give you some numbers of local dealers that sell with a minimal markup. From what I've heard, XDs are still a hot item so availability and discounts might be questionable.

Try www.sportingarms.com Tom/Becky are in Lewisville and great to work with. They have great prices on some things, and decent prices on others. He said he won't be beat on Kimbers, and he had the best NIB price on a Les Baer TRS that I have ever seen. I don't know about XD9's though... but it's worth checking out.

Also, you might check the firearms listings over at www.glocktalk.com. DepMur who is a police officer in Dallas was selling (personal sale...he's not a dealer)a Sig 229. I have dealt with him before (bought a 239 from him)and he's a great guy.
